Saints must figure out a way to draft Mac Jones (1 Viewer)

Jones looks good, but he’s on a vastly superior team than the rest of the class. I personally would rather have Trask or even Ehlinger. Trask, in particular seems like a guy who’s tailor made for a Sean Payton O.

"Be Humble"= "Stop praising prospects I hate with confidence."

at this point,I can’t even argue against your views because you have proven to know your shirt.

im curious...who would you prefer the Saints draft

This thread is 6+ pages long so I assume it’s been mentioned already:

Bama has 4 #1 WR on that team and multiple NFL offensive lineman

Mac Jones could be good, but he’s been surrounded completely with talent that could pad his stats
And what did Burrow do and have around him last year? Humm?

You purple & gold folks need to take your tiger glasses off, when it comes to talent. It is what it is, with the talent Bama has this year. Two Heisman finalist, from the same team, in the toughest conference.

I think all the QBs in this years draft class are over hyped. Last year was much better.
I think Lawrence is a great prospect but not can't miss. The top 4 QBs all have to improve to stick in the NFL. Lawrence, Fields, Jones and Wilson all have the potential to bust. I wouldn't trade up for any of them.
What made Burrow so special last year, say compared to Jones? I want to know.

And there were all the so called experts in this forum, that were all over “trade up for Burrow” and such. Herbert by far turned out to be the better prospect. No one was really on him, in this forum. You never know. I will take Jones in a heartbeat late in the 1st. He took a very similar route as Burrow did. Jones only had a few games under his belt, the year before. Burrow had an entire season, before he busted out. There was NOT ONE person that saw Burrow play the year before, who thought he would be the No. 1 player taken. NOT ONE! We shall see.

And I didn’t mention a word about Burrow 😂

Take your hate glasses and go poke a different bear

Jones wasn't under pressure much and threw to open receivers for the most part. Jones didn't have to win games the way Joe did last year.
You can compare Smith to Chase but after that Bama has the better players, Oline, defense, TE, etc.
I'm not saying Mac Jones won't be a great pro QB but I'm not seeing the can't miss factor you saw with Burrow last year.
I also wouldn't mind drafting Jones if he fell to us but I wouldn't trade up for him.

Has anyone seen those pictures of Mac Jones that are circulating around the internet of him without a shirt? Dude looks like he does not condition himself. He would have a tough time with all of the great food in New Orleans, imho

Be Humble = stop actin like you're a draft expert and laugh emoji'ing people's posts because they don't have Mac Jones' nads on their chin, especially when there are multiple receipts of clown car draft "analyses"
The emojis are here to laugh at anything we damn well please.

You are entitled to consider Jones a Joke and I am entitled to laugh hysterically at that opinion.

I'm not the one professing to be a draft expert here or whining about people not being humble because they don't like my players.

This is a thread about an NFL prospect: Mac Jones.

This thread is not about the members of the forum, not about their expertise or lack of it scouting players,

We all have opinions here, and NONE are more valid than the other.

I these tread continue to digress, it will be either edited or closed.

I kind of agree with this. Here are the Alabama QBs under Saban who benefited from insane talent at the WR and RB positions and didn’t translate to NFL success:

A. J. McCarron
Greg McElroy
Brodie Croyle

jury still out:
Tua and Jalen Hurts (😑)

As someone who is not purple and gold folk, I would say the most glaring difference between 19 LSU & 20 Alabama when discussing Burrow v Mac is the offensive line. If there was a weakness for LSU’s, it was that the OL was just average and teams could get pressure with 3-4. Burrow’s anticipation and ability to respond under pressure and deliver on time into tight windows was more quantifiable because it was forced on more occasions.

Along with the unmatchable skill talent, Bama has a ridiculous OL. Two tackles in Leatherwood & Neal that will go top 20 and top 5 this year and next year, the Rimington trophy winner (Dickerson) and one of the top 5 guards in this next draft (Brown). Unlike LSU last year, the only way to get pressure on Mac was to bring pressure..Defenses were picking their poison all season with Mac, either bringing extra guys and matching elite WRs 1 on 1, or bringing 3-4 and giving him a millennium to find the open man.

Again, I am in on Mac. But the evaluation for he and Burrow are different. I could add the offensive design, and the defensive competition. But also, like I said earlier, with a team like Bama that has their pick they picked Mac.. So obviously he’s talented.

Kinda like USC. I think the combine will tell a lot.

I dunno for sure, but both Fields and Jones look like a couple of land mines to me. A couple of teams are going to end up stepping on them. Hope it’s not the Saints.

My realistic cloud of first round players consists of a few names depending on who stays and who leaves at QB, S, DE, TE and CB.

1) Mac Jones QB
2) Zaven Collins MLB
3)Pat Freijermouth TE
4)Carlos Basham DE
4)Tamarrion Terry WR

I like several CBs and Ss but I I don't like giving them a final grade until after the combine because speed is most import in the secondary.

The wildcard is that the Saints could always simply draft another offensive Lineman.

You can say the same thing about Jim Chaney system QBs at Purdue and elsewhere.

"Chaney has coached quarterbacks such as Drew Brees, Kyle Orton, Tyler Bray, Brandon Allen, and Jake Fromm, and he’s developed others into good college QBs like Jonathan Crompton and Nathan Peterman."

When he gets to the NFL, his team won’t be like the high school varsity team playing the JV team anymore. Then add the speed of the game for someone with little mobility. Could get ugly!

I’m kinda hoping one of our divisional opponents (Falcons, Panthers) waste a first or second round pick on butterball :ROFLMAO: ...

Mac Jones sucks lol. The two times on Monday he got pressured he turned the ball over and got injured. He's not even the best QB on his team, Bryce Young is 3x the QB he is.
