This is not the end of an era. Over the past few seasons , we've been given a glimpse at life post Drew. We've nearly completed a seasons worth of games without him , and won all but one !

We've seen great teams fall to the wayside after their glorious runs at the lombardi.

The 15-1 Panthers
The Defensive Juggernaut 49ers
Peyton Mannings Broncos to name a few

They've all had to blow up their teams and start from scratch.

We will not.

Because we have a young elite core.
Because we have an elite defense
Because we have the best coach in football
Because we have the best GM in football
Because we create stars out of mere dust
Because Tampa sold their souls for a ring they still won't get , and we got their Future in return.

The NFC south is still ours.

Tampa can't keep all that talent together , Tom is older than Drew. That team came with an expiration date !

The Panthers suck

Atlanta is a constant joke and in full rebuild mode.

I love Drew , and I'll miss him dearly. But I trust Sean,

If he says Taysom is Steve Young , I'm taking it to the bank.

If Drew told a Heisman winning QB who he's mentored , that he's got all the tools , and it's his team now , I trust him.

Either way , we aren't rebuilding , we just finished reloading.

As long as we can win at least 9 games a year, and make the playoffs, I"m all in be it with Taysom or Jamis ... However, the schedule is BRUTAL if you haven't looked yet....

This team is going through some changes this offseason, but this team(s) goes through changes EVERY offseason, I don't know why people are acting like this team is about to be put together like a expansion team all of a sudden.

True , but we've done special things without Drew. We probably win that game had Taysom or Jameis plays.

Come what may , we are built for it

It's the end of one chapter but it's the beginning of another. We reached our ceiling with Old Drew. It was close, damn close, but not enough. I'm looking forward to this next chapter. I'm anxious to see what SP's offense will look like with the next QB.

We have one of the best offensive minds in NFL history. The game has evolved into "basketball on grass". There has never been more space for offenses to operate and now SP will be able to take advantage of that space again. SP can get back to stretching teams out horizontally and vertically.

It's like he's been a boxer who could only use his left hand. All he could do was jab and occasionally throw a hook. Teams knew what was coming but we've still had so much success. What happens now that defenses have to respect the entire field again?

I'm actually okay. I wanted this season but because I mostly wanted it FOR Drew. But, let's face it, Drew's going to be okay. We've got a huge cap mountain to climb, but I'm excited to see what we can be albeit without Drew.

Next season, in addition to the NFC South games and games versus the NFCC and NFCW champs, the Saints get all of the NFC East and the AFC East, something that last happened 12 years ago . . .

A jab is all you need, if you know what you're doing.
Sorry had to add that, I tought boxing back in college šŸ˜‚

It wasn't that long ago that the Chiefs were flaming out in the playoffs every year, which all changed when they replaced their veteran QB. Brees isn't Alex Smith and Winston/Hill certainly aren't Mahomes, but I think we can similarly get over the hump with a QB that allows us to open up the offense.

Also, no one has any idea how hard our schedule will be next year. Before this last season we thought the Falcons, Niners and Vikings would be much more difficult opponents than they ended up being. We dropped games to the Raiders and Eagles which we both all probably marked as wins. This league changes a lot year to year.

We are in deep doo doo with the salary cap. 96 million over a projected 175-180 million cap, for 2021. A lot of money that has been kicked down the road are coming due in 2021! The Saints are going to have to go to a number of players and ask for them to restructure, kicking more money down the road. At some point, the wheeling and dealing eventually catches up and you have to pay the piper.

This is why we need to do what we can to maximize draft capital in 2021 and 2022. Let's get younger, deeper, and cheaper at some positions. There will certainly be some guys we all like who go via trade or release, but our roster is still built soundly (see: OL and DL) to maintain success.
