2021 Draft Prospects to Watch This Season (3 Viewers)

Last one for tonight Fanspeak, high difficulty level.

I tend to target very specific players.

I understand why Payton trades up for guys he loves.

I meant that the compensatory pick for Bridgewater hasn't officially been awarded yet because they only have 5 picks on every simulator.
Compensatory picks will be awarded mid- March... NFL network is saying we will get a 6 rounder for Klein... Fingers crossed.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Projected compensatory picks: One apiece in Rounds 3 and 6.
Key free-agent losses:Teddy Bridgewater (Panthers), Vonn Bell (Bengals), A.J. Klein (Bills).
Key free-agent addition:Emmanuel Sanders (49ers).
Comp-pick analysis: The Saints played this entire thing like a Jackson-square jam. Bridgewater was signed for just one season at $7.25 million to be Drew Brees' backup in 2019, and he ended up starting five games and winning all five starts. He played himself into a nice contract with the Panthers and earned the Saints a third-round pick. The addition of Sanders will cancel out the loss of Bell, but the loss of Klein should bring in a sixth-rounder.

That would be 7 picks if it happens.

They really need to keep all of their picks this year if possible.

There's really good talent on defense in the first few rounds and a few TEs who could help out.

For Me MLB, QB, and TE are the biggest needs.

Those spots have required a long-term solution for years.

DE just has a high amount of Value with Odighizuwa, Ogundeji , Robinson, and Basham all projected to be available in the first 3 rounds.

If they miss out on Zaven Collins they need to pull out the stops to secure Jabril Cox.

Looks like the PFN has the most accurate guess for the final picks.

1st 28, 2nd 60, 3rd 98, (Fontenot) 3rd 105, (Bridgewater) and 4th 133.

If we do get a 6th for Klein I'm assuming Roger takes that away for the impending covid penalty. This is besides the 7th already taken.

I thought the 6th got taken away for signing Winston a day after comp signings ended. It was "punishment" for violating the spirit of the CBA.

That was the talk at the time. We won't know for sure until mid march when the league screws us again...lol

If we keep all our picks this year, it'll be a first in who knows how long.

Anywho. I made a draft based on a few assumptions. We're keeping Marcus Williams, Jameis is our starter, and we're letting Rankins and Sanders go. I also edited my own draft board which bumps players I rank highly much higher. I was sure Jabril Cox wouldn't last that long. I bumped him to 20 and made Mac Jones a top 15 guy otherwise, I would likely end up with both.

So
R1 P28 LB Jabril Cox - LSU
R2 P28 DL Jaylen Twyman - Pittsburgh
R3 P34 EDGE Chris Rumph II - Duke
R3 P41 WR Anthony Schwartz - Auburn
R4 P28 G Calvin Ashley - Florida A&M

I think I'm taking a chance that Rumph can either do what Zach Baun did but better as a rookie, and that Twyman can capture some Pittsburgh small DT magic. Anthony Schwartz is just plain intriguing as a deep threat/slot option. Just not sure if he can overcome how generally weak and slight he is. That speed is too magical to risk losing if he bulks up wrong.

Good value at all of those picks.

My only question is why St. Brown over Tamarrion Terry and why no MLB?

I like Terry, love his size, but at that point in RD2, i think St. Brown’s a better value. I think he brings a more diverse skill set & is a lot more polished coming into the pros. Id also give St. Brown the nod in upside as well, because he’s already a fairly developed & nuanced route runner. St. Brown also has the better hands of the two. Love Terry’s splash ability, but St. Brown is equally as dangerous as a downfield threat.

St. Brown also has the proven ability to line up & make plays at multiple positions. Other than size & maybe straight line speed, i just think St. Brown’s a better prospect & value at that point. I honestly think St. Brown, like his former running mate Michael Pittman, will rise & possibly be drafted at the back end of the 1st or early 2nd.

I do like Terry though & think his QB situation held held him back a bit. His size & athletic traits are an untapped goldmine for a master innovator of offensive like Sean Payton. But the same can also be said about St. Brown, albeit in a different body type skillset & play style.

I was going to go w/Chazz Surratt, but after flop flopping a bit, went w/Amon Ra in the 2nd instead. Did another mock where i did draft Chazz, but i wasnt able to draft the guys i wanted to target late, namely Hufanga & Mukuamu. Plus, I think we’re going to resign Alexander, & drafting Hufanga in the 3rd semi-addresses the position. Hufanga can play that hybrid Safety-backer role, on top of being a versed DB. Drafting Hufanga would give us the best of both positions, LB & DB.

I actually like our draft picks this year, we have a total of 5 picks in the first four rounds. This is very different to what we normally have.
