You make some very good points but neither of us know what’s in his head. The deal he has with NBC means he will still have to be doing the kind of study and preparation he does as a active player with the major exception of any workouts. I hope the team drafts a QB even if he comes back. I guess my dream scenario would be Drew back for a year with the Jones kid as his backup learning from him.Respectfully...that's an unbelievably unrealistic expectation. He would be passing up more money in that one year than you or I will see in our lifetimes. Even the amount he gave up in his contract restructure is below market value for him. In fact, it was unbelievable that Jameis took that same amount of money to be a backup. Heck, Chase Daniels made a ton more than that to be a backup. Compound that with the fact that he has a huge salary waiting for him as a broadcaster.
If in your early 60s your boss said, 'Hey you've had a great career and made lots of money. I know you're thinking about retiring soon. Want to work for free for the next year before you retire?' you'd laugh in his face. He would be passing up orders of magnitude more money...to work insanely hard, get physically beat up, to try to win again at a year older with a depleted roster due to the salary cap. That's an absolutely bonkers notion.
