Rumor Saints Listening to calls on Marshon Lattimore & DT Malcolm Brown? (1 Viewer)

They don't make any sense. At all. There will be tough choices, but that isn't going t obe one of them.

Saints are not a name your number team & they're not carrying him for his full salary. 80-85% chance they work out an extension, gotta be prepared if they don't. Listening to offers is different from seeking a deal.

I'd trade Latt for a D. Watson or R. Wilson... Outside of that, it would have to be an early first round pick to get one of the top 2 or 3 rookie QBs. That's it though.

We are not trading Lattimore.

Payton is not trading Lattimore.

Payton does not believe in rebuilding.

Next topic.

if “trades” prior to the league year have already been agreed upon it’s only logical the Saints are indeed fielding calls.

Its due diligence, doesn’t mean anything happens..could be to gauge value.

and it could have legs.

The specifics and off limits make sense and yet it’s so early no one should care either way.

realistically with Lattimore, i think they will let him play out his contract then let him walk. If it comes down to extending someone, they will probably choose Ram.

Only way Lattimore gets traded is if they are trading for Watson.

I really don't understand the 'trade Lattimore'/let him walk crowd. It literally took this team nearly a decade to find a competent corner that could consistently stop a receiver, so why trade away a top 10 corner you found and groomed? I mean, I've said it before. Does this fanbase really want more Brandon Browners and Corey Whites coming through here? Wonder how long it would take for those same people to start whining about how bad the secondary is playing when half the field isn't being shut down.

Do you understand the salary cap? The Saints decided to kick the can down the road in order to win a Superbowl. Now it's time to pay up. If the Saints don't think they can afford to sign Lattimore to a contract extension he could become a free agent in 2022.

#1 pick is tempting, but that's a QB signing and I'm not honestly sold on the guys being discussed as the #1 pick. Sean will be here for a few more years at least and I don't see him being interested in grooming someone and going through those growing pains. I feel like he wants to win now, not in a few years when the rookie is ready. Mahomes is an anomaly. Rarely is a QB that good so fast and we saw in the Superbowl that even as good as he is, he's still young and has alot to learn.

So if you get the #1 pick what do you do with it? If we made a move like that, which nobody would give up the #1 for any player on our team imo, I would then trade the pick for multiple picks and hope I hit big in the draft again so we could acquire great talent at cap friendly prices. Just my 2 pennies.
That's not what we saw! We saw a great qb hitting receivers in the hands, while running for his life!!! Well, at least that's what I saw!

Marshon just might be the only CB on the roster in a few weeks. PRob is more than likely a cap casualty. PJ Williams is a free agent. Jackrabbit might also be a cap casualty.

You can't trade Marshon, but yes you must at least listen to offers. That's your responsibility as a competent front office.

Let's not get carried away here. Latt is a good player but he isn't shutting down half the field.

Lattimore is a solid corner, but he's not a lock down corner. I'd love to have him extended, but if the price is right, take it.

Right... I wear my black and gold glasses more than anyone but I can sit here in good conscience and say that Latt is NOT a lockdown guy. Our entire secondary is average at best... I looked to see what the PFF guys thought about their secondary rankings, and the Saints secondary was at the lower-end of the middle-of-the-pack.

21. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Penalties killed New Orleans’ secondary rankings. The group committed 45 penalties in the regular season, six more than any other unit in the NFL. Nine came courtesy of Marshon Lattimore, who earned a 53.7 coverage grade this season. Lattimore did have decent ball production, with nine combined pass breakups plus interceptions, but he also gave up more touchdowns than any other cornerback in single coverage (six).

But I still can't trade him because he's pretty much all we got. If there was some master plan to replace EVERYONE of our corners.. then yeah I'd be on board with it.

I would take 2, 1st Round picks from the right Team looking to rebuild their team.
Latt is a Franchise Designation type player.
It would be a very tough decision to trade our first true shutdown corner. It's like I stated, "the right Team".
You can do a lot with 2 advantaged, first round picks in a draft that is considered very deep on talented players at just about every position this year and next.
That's 4, First Round picks in two drafts.
