Not sure if this was an issue in previous seasons since I don’t know what the CBA said but this year they have pre and post 1 cap implications. For example, Russell Wilson gets traded before June 1 it’s a $39M dead money on Seattles cap. But if they make it a post June 1, they can spread $23M of that to 2022.
With that example, I wonder if we are going to see trades for players for draft picks, but the team with the draft picks making the selection for the other team much like the NBA? I’ve never seen or really heard this done in the NFL in the past.
