It's not a great deal for that much whiskey, but it is a great idea and I wish more distilleries would do it. Especially for their higher end stuff. It's hard to decide to put out $70 or more on whiskey that you know nothing about. I look for reviews on stuff and that helps, but taste is so subjective reviews have limited usefulness. Sometimes you can find the little "airplane" bottles, but not so much for higher end stuff, so a tasting set would be a great way to decide what you want to put out $70 or more on purchasing.

I totally would be interested in something like that. Would give me some idea of what kinds of whiskey I'd be more inclined to try.

Not sure if they have them where you are, but Total Wine carries a bunch of small bottles that you can get from $.50 to $6. It's not a lot of the upper end stuff, but it would be a good place to start at least figuring out if Bourbon, Irish Whisky, Scotch, Rye, etc. is your jam.

Well, no whiskey at Total Wines here. Gonna have to make a trip to the liquor store. Will look for them this weekend.

I'm stoked because my niece just picked up a bottle of Blue Spot that I have been looking for everywhere.

Also, I bought a bottle of Bardstown Bourbon's Discovery Series #4 this week and it might be the best thing I have tasted in a year. Lots or caramel and sweet figgy notes with some nuttiness that just coats your mouth, a great nose that you'll just want to smell for hours and a nice, warm finish. At 114 proof It will run you between $130 and $150 but it is worth every frickin' penny. If you see it, grab it. It's a 9/10 at worst.

Maybe Phebus? We are always on the lookout for inexpensive Malbecs - we’ve probably tried most of them there.
Atrevida Malbec
Yes I agree 100%. They can even lower the price by $10 and they would probably sell more of them and get people possibly hooked on their brand. I want to try all these labels in this pack, but I'm not going to buy a bottle of each probably. I would love to see a Buffalo Trace pack like this and a Wild Turkey one. I've pretty much decided to buy this pack if they still have one left. I just need to stop in and see.

I do enjoy the little "airplane" bottles and Total Wine has a great selection of them and even some half-bottles (375ml), but you are right that they don't have higher end stuff.

I need to find a friend that will help me drink the Heaven Hill pack, but no one else I really hang out with enjoys neat whiskey.
Buy it. Try it. Dump the rest in an empty container and start an infinity bottle.

Thanks. Although we probably won't be visiting TW for a while after today. Major restock happened.
I just bought a case of Ed Cab Sav. They knocked 15% since I bought more than 8 bottles. I like some of the stuff that is aged in bourbon barrels like Beringer Bros as well as Cooper and Thief red blend.

I'll be there in the morning to try and catch any allocated whiskey off the truck when they open.

I had a really good day hunting in a span of about 3 hours. The Redbreast Cask Strength Small Batch was actually held for me. I stopped in a small shop a week ago and asked for it. The guy remembered me and when I stopped in today, pulled it out and handed it to me.

From L - R:
Larceny Barrel Proof A121
Belle Meade Madeira
Redbreast Cask Strength Small Batch
Starward Two Fold Whisky
Smokewagon Small Batch Straight

I cracked open the Starward already. It is an Australian Whisky of wheat and malted barley bottled at 40% ABV and finished in Australian red wine barrels. It has some nice fruity grain notes and a mellow, soft finish like you'd expect from a wheat whisky. Not a bad pour for $32.

How is that Belle Meade Medeira finished? I've been looking at it for awhile but never pulled the trigger.

I'm not much of a whiskey person (moar of a tater water dranker), but I grabbed dinner last night w/ one of my little brothers from my fraternity who was passing through town at our buddy's ramen restaurant Uptown named Union Ramen, (delicious place btw), and said buddy gave us several shots of a Japanese whiskey that we sipped called Suntory Toki that was quite smoof.

Try Buck Shack Bourbon Barrel aged by Shannon Ridge if that's your jam. I've had it side by side with the others and it beats C&T at a better price. Plus the bottle is pretty cool.

I LOVE those little bottles.
