Saints have a surprisingly low projected 2021 win total (1 Viewer)

We lost one of the best QBs to ever play football this offseason to retirement... I'm not trying to fart on Saints Fans' French fries... but people need to lower their expectations this season... I am hoping for 10 wins, but I am not going to be shocked if we win less than 9 games. Is what it is.

Slightly low, I feel, but I do understand it. There's too much turnover at a few positions to confidently say that it should be higher.

Saints over/under on wins is at 9. That is our lowest total in some time. Do you agree? Seems about right to me. Remember there are 17 games this year.

I agree, I think it’s about right. They are going through a huge transition and school is out until they prove otherwise. At this point in the transition, I think a pre season ranking that gives them credit as being a team that’s slightly better than the middle of the pack, is a fair landing spot.

I don't see how we can argue with that assessment. We have lost a HOF Qb, 2 starting caliber DT's, a DE with 13 plus sacks, a starting WR, a starting outside LB, a starting cb, along with some important depth. Frankly, if they had us at 8-8 I would not quibble. Now do I think we can surpass the 9 win season - YES, but it will take a great draft and Winston stepping up to be a quality QB.

Nationally, the NFL South championship has already been given to Tampa. Few note that Tampa last season was extremely healthy when it mattered. I am concerned about the loss of depth. But with a productive draft, I think we will be in contention.

Let's see. We lost the HoF QB who's been with the team for the last 15 years. We lost a lot of key defensive and offensive players. So yeah, I'd say things are very uncertain to say the least. Could be 9 wins. Could be 3 wins. Could be 12 wins.

The Saints will be different team next year than they have been for quite some time. Hopefully good-different, but bad-different is definitely a possibility, especially while things gel.

Yep. And that not knowing what to expect has me excited. With Drew you knew worst case scenario he was going to drag the team kicking and screaming to 7 wins. Without him, lol, there's no telling what we're about to see. It might be awesome or it might be god awful but I can't wait to watch it go down either way.

If the wheels fall off this thing I think we're looking at 6 wins. With this talent and at least adequate QB play they should win 9 games.

Also you need to factor in our schedule. Can we win 10 out of these 17?

Home - falcons, Bucs, Panthers, Cowboys, Giants, Bills, Dolphins, Packers

Away - falcons, Bucs, Panthers, Patriots, Jets, Eagles, Seahawks, Washington, Titans

Saints schedule next year is brutal. Play SuperBowl Champs twice the AFC and NFC champioship game finalist. Seahawks, Titans and an up and coming dolphins team.

If any coach can get a team to play beyond expectations its Payton. In 2018, 19 and 20 Saints were projected to win 9, 10 and 10 games respectively. Its the postseason i worry about. Im hoping and praying this is the year N.O gets it done.

We lost a LOT of talent, not just at QB. We're still in the top half of NFL teams coaching and talent-wise, but going 9-8 or 10-7 seems fairly likely, especially if Jameis is his typical inconsistent self.
