Four-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara may have a $75 million contract to his name, but the Saints’ superstar is still ready to go back to his days surviving off a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter if he needs to.

The 25-year-old is conscious of living well within his means, he says in a recent interview for Uninterrupted’s “Kneading Dough” series. [MOD NOTE: the link in this sentence gets you to the full YouTube video]

“I’ve always known the value of a dollar,” the Georgia native says.

It’s a lesson he learned from his mother, who taught him the importance of hard work. “As a kid, I saw my mom work multiple jobs only to be able to afford the bare essentials.”

I hope he starts to enjoy the fruits of his labor at some point. It's great he's being smart with his money and not blowing but I also hope he realizes the potential of having the amount of money he's making. I'm sure he's treating his mom to some nice things too as she more than deserves for all the things she's done to raise such an awesome son.

Haven't spent a dime?

Highly doubt that, he's got some expensive houses/cars. Maybe he hasn't spent a lot of it but a dime???
Endorsement cash can go a looooong way. I know Rob Gronkowski has done things similarly. He only spends his endorsement cash and never touches his football salary.

Just so happy AK is on our side.
Absolutely love the way he plays, the way he handles himself, he’s just different, refreshing.....and that story about him giving cash to those boys riding bikes near his juice store, awesome.
