Again, my gut feeling was not filling with prototype players, but filling a vision for a simpler, attacking defense with rangy, athletic, lunch pail guys who are football players first and foremost. He plays quicker than his 40, has good instincts and high motor/tenacity all the way through the play...and was a former safety. So, yes, he can play safety! LOL His hands to dislodge and disrupt passes show that part of his football DNA. Our 2 picks thus far show what we are going for on D this year. I keep getting more excited. They have a definite plan and scouted these guys heavily for what they WANT to do on defense. Ears pinned back and GO defense this season. There are a lot of good players we passed on, but we obviously didn't bring them in because they didn't fill the vision our FO has. I think this is good pickup and Turner and Werner is an indication of what we are trying to field!

Think we would of passed on Marshall anyway so I’m glad I didn’t have to witness it. But I really don’t like him going to a division rival with an offensive coordinator that is already familiar with him.

I think it means he likes his offensive personnel more than a lot of fans think he should.

I would have rathered Jabril Cox. His 1 year at LSU he had 3 picks and over 60+ tackles. He would be a much better coverage linebacker, which is what we need.

With the run defense losing so much to the CAP, we needed a run playing, tackling machine to play alongside Davis. This is an excellent pick!

Definitely but as much draft capital that’s been used on both Davenport and Turner, it’s all snaps or nothing with both of them to justify how or where they were selected

I guess that is the only way you can argue the point. This may be the demise of this team. Playing players you are hell bent on convincing yourself, your staff and your fans, these guys were and are quality starting players, when they are really only depth quality. We’ll see this year.

Just watched a few minutes of Werner’s live stream interview.. He seems highly intelligent, not at all a meathead, which is obviously what you want in a potential QB of ur defense.

Definitely would've preferred Cox as well. He seemed like a natural fit with a tendency for making flashy big plays. I forget who said it earlier in the thread, but they compared Werner to Shanle and my heart sank just a second, because that's absolutely who he'll end up being.

All I want every draft is for the Saints to select some bruiser LB in the 2-4 round with the skillset of a Paul Posluszny type (less fragile). I hope the Saints draft another LB tomorrow. They desperately need them.

Yup. It's pretty obvious. It's the smart move. At best we are the 2nd best team in the division this season.
