Last pick, Kawaan Baker, WR Southern Alabama (1 Viewer)

He has the speed and separation to make it in the NFL as a Slot WR but even he knows, he has a long way to go to prove that and actually make it happen. He could use some work with his feet at times and getting off the line but that’s all teachable. At times, going across the middle and even coming off the line, he seems to avoid contact. Then at other times, he seems to have toughness and take the hits, while making great catches with his hands. He has some drops but they seem to be concentration related, rather than poor hands. He was used predominantly as a Slot WR but they put him in motion and used him out of the backfield plenty of times as a RB. He also returned kicks, so that speaks to his versatility. Baker wasn’t asked to run many routes though and most of them seem to be slants, crossers, go routes and quick outs. I’d like to see how he would work outside with an expanded route tree but I didn’t get to see much of that. He lined up outside at times, but he never seemed to be the first option or it was just a running play. Which is good in terms of using him for blocking. He seems to like it and with some work he could be a truly great blocker. He’s got blazing speed and can make things happen when he gets the ball in his hands, so there’s a reason he lined up at RB and as a KR. With the right coaching, in the right system, at his size, I think he could make his way on to a 53-man roster and be a reliable WR and Returner.
I like “Blazing Speed!”

I actually like this pick. He will be a project but has great potential with some good coaching. 4.41 40.
That's the thing about this draft seems like all the players drafted are projects. Future type of players but not really now type of players other than maybe Pete Werner. I would also say Paulson Adebo too but Loomis said out of his mouth Paulson was a project so there's that. I think maybe Payton, Landon and now KB will see the field at times too but prob only if an injury occurs. Unless ofc they just show out and prove they are great.

He has experience as a receiver, runner, and returner... and he’s a special athlete with “juice”.

Im not gonna lie... never heard of the kid... but I felt a lot better when Jeremiah gave the Saints props on a late round pick with huge upside.

👍🏻

Better be some Juicy Fruit or Coach gonna be upset!

It's pretty obvious that SP is content with our offensive players. I wanted a LB and CB early, but I was secretly wishing one of the first or second round picks would've been a WR. Oh well, we got some players with great RAS scores... and that quarterback fella.

Watching him catch deep routes makes me a little misty. It’s been so long since I’ve seen a Saints receiver run deep routes.

Maybe coach and mickey loomis hit another homerunner Colson was a 7th rounder also!

Agreed i think ted Ginn was the last reciever

Again, skillset 6'1 215lbs no different from Thomas, TQS, Calloway, or Johnson even...big physical receivers who can body dbs for position run the slants and run block.

This offense is not changing the Saints pretty much drafted players that fit a system.

The one thing all the WRs currently on the roster have in common is that they all exceled with deep/50-50 passes in their college tape.

I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of baiting with our usual WC-styled offense, but teams can't sit on short routes anymore with QBs like Winston or Hill who both have capable arms or WRs like Harris just waiting for a DB to bite on the wrong route and leaving them in the dust.
