It seems the staff is drafting players with high RAS and football IQ... those are things you simply can't teach. They have faith in their ability to develop the players once they get them, but the foundational traits you can't teach those.

I like these picks... still don't think we needed a first round DE (with the other needs we had) but Neilson will get his hands on him and turn him into a beast.

Wait and see. Players that opt out are driven by irrational fear, not a good trait for a CB.
I wouldn’t say that it was irrational. Adebo was coming off of an injury the previous season.

Given the shortened camps and unknowns of when mandatory quarantines could have been imposed, player injuries went way up last year. It’s likely he didn’t sit out because of fear of catching Covid. It’s more likely he sat out to give himself time to heal properly and not risk an injury that could keep him out of the NFL.

Pretty much this. He was regarded as one of the top corners in the country going into last season.

I’m stoked about him. If he can clean up his tendency to get destroyed on double moves, and work on his hips a bit, we should have a heck of a player. From all I’ve read on him.

Bingo. Our offense hasn’t been amazing for quite some time, especially poor in the playoffs.
I wouldn't say that but I would say that we haven't had an offense that averages being amazing since 2018 when we should've won the Super Bowl. Even last year we destroyed Tampa in the 2nd game but those games stopped being the average since 2018.

Best O we ever had, imo, 2011. 09 was great too because we actually had balance and ran the ball.

That's false, we always jumped up big and then ran the ball to salt the game away which created the "balance". We weren't balanced until the 2nd half of games.

I really like this pick. I don't believe he will be a starter right away, but he will be in the mix during the season. I would still like us to go after a FA vet. preferably Sherman. I believe Chris Richard will be able to make Adebo better CB than he already is. Also, if we could get Sherman to come in and really polish him off, we may have a good solid CB for at least the next 5 years. Now with all that said, Here's a little information on Adebo.

Paulson Adebo- CB, 6'1"/198#, 4.42-40, Vertical- 36.5", Bench Press- 18 Reps., Short Shuttle- 4.13, 3-Cone- 6.69, Broad Jump- 10'1".

Adebo is a ballhawk with a long angular frame. His size and ball skills gives him a distinct advantage when the ball is in the air and he attacks throws with a wide receivers mindset. he has the size and strength to beat up the press release. Good short area footwork to phase up on comeback routes. He plays with leverage to limit options for WR's, he also recognizes route timing like a receiver. He likes to crowd and clog the breakpoint underneath. His timing at the catch point is very good. Uses his hands well and his ability to recover if he gets beat is impressive. He's more of a playmaker than a lockdown CB, which is good with me. I feel we need a good playmaker opposite Lattimore. He can range in Cover-3 or play physical in press-man.

Adebo can sometimes play upright and lacks fluidity to shadow sharp route breaks and double moves, however, his ability to recover and make to the catch point is impressive, he has great recovery speed. Has some minor stall when driving forward from the top of his drop. Doesn't play with consistent route phase and positioning at times and can let his body control get away from him and needs to get better in run support.

My thoughts on Adebo is once Coach Chris Richard gets his hands on him and starts to work with him, he will eliminate a lot of his inconsistencies. All we need is for Adebo to is a solid and consistent CB. And hopefully we can bring Sherman on board to help mentor him.

Nope, not entirely true. We ran the ball a ton in the 1st half of the Bills, Jets, Rams, 1st Bucs game, in fact we had more rushing than passing yards against the Bills (the game where PT went crazy) and almost an equal amount in 3 other games.

I agree that much of the season the pass opened up the run, but not the whole season. I think SP realized that Evans and Nicks were destroying people up front and did run first to set up the pass more often than most realize....

We won the SB that year because we had great balance.

Entering the 2019-2020 season, Paulson Adebo was considered a Top 3 CB in all of college football... behind only CJ Henderson and Jeff Okuda.

His play slipped a little that season, then he got banged-up... and then opted-out this past season.

Had he chosen to play in the 2020-2021 season and returned to around 80-90% of his 2018/2019 form, he would’ve been ranked in the 1st round discussion and probably as highly regarded (or higher) than Greg Newsome.
