I don't think Americans have any idea the level of mitigation that has been going on in Europe. I can't even imagine how exhausting and psychologically hard it must be. I hope eases soon.

I saw that France was beginning its phased relaxation of rules.
If wearing a mask is tyranny, what could be worse?

My brother was stationed in Germany for the entire COVID. He was rarely able to leave the base. All of the base facilities such as the gym/theater/dining facilities were close. It was a dry area, so no alcohol. They were instructed to not gather with or without masks.

Essentially, he spent a year in prison.

That may be true, but i just don’t understand it.. i mean, obviously the common cold cant kill you.. and I’m fortunate that since I take a few supplements and am pretty neurotic about getting enough sleep- I haven’t had many colds over the last few years.. But when i was younger, and even into my 20s, i would get colds all the time, and they were miserable- it seems to me that a vaccine for the common cold would be an absolute gold mine... but maybe there are simply too many strains of it for one to be effective (?)
I'd imagine any coronavirus strains that have a similar spike protein (or maybe all of them??) will be harder for anyone vaccinated to catch, or develop symptoms from. not a Dr. or Biologist, though.

Just assuming, since I believe the vaccines are mostly attacking the mechanism of attachment, so anything with a similar mechanism, or at least the specific proteins at the spike, will have a harder time latching on in our bodies. So, is it all S proteins that will be resisted, or more specific S proteins? Depending on that (which I'm not equipped to find that answer properly), would dictate how many other coronavirus type diseases this may also prevent or offer some limited protection against.

Something tells me he had it much better than prison.

Not effective until July 1st...

Gov. Ron DeSantis says he will issue an order suspending all remaining local COVID-19 emergency orders.
DeSantis said Monday he doesn’t think those local measures, which include mask mandates, are needed given the widespread availability of vaccine.

He's trying to sell it differently, but basically this is the same thing NYC is doing.. being 'fully open' by July 1st.

So, better hope vaccine rates stay somewhat high.

When I first read the story, I thought he meant ending mandates TODAY. They better push that July 1st part or some will be confused.

EDIT: I'm now unsure.... according to others, he did two executive orders.. one for July 1st, another for today. Just not sure what is in which.

EDIT 2: found a better article. They signed a law ending the restrictions for July 1, and he issued an EO to bridge the gap. So, starting today? Going to be a cluster, but I imagine a lot of businesses will still have restrictions, they'll just need new signs, if they were blaming the county on it.

Are there places where you can just walk in and get a vaccine or do you have to schedule an appointment. I would like to get one this afternoon but there doesn't seem to be any available right now.

id try your local Walgreens as they announced this am the move to "walk in" vaccinations.

AAAAND fresh news they just announced Oktoberfest is cancelled AGAIN in 2021. In Bavaria this is the biggest event of the year and is responsible for a large portion of our tourism economy.

We were all hoping 2021 would pull us out of this funk, but I think it's gonna be 2022 before we can actually do anything fun or travel again.

We can't even visit with friends. You can meet up with max 1 person from outside your household. I am trying to be supportive and act in solidarity but we are TIRED.

Starting this week, they are starting to open up cultural attractions to vaccinated parties or with a fresh PCR test(no more than 24 hours old). We may have to do that test soon just to get out and go to the zoo or something.
Schade. :jpshakehead: :(

I would try local independent pharmacies first. It may be his best bet. Our local pharmacy posted on their FB page, they have more shots than arms willing to take them .

I don't know about your neck of the woods on the MS Gulf Coast ... but independent pharmacies have been the winning play in the New Orleans area, too.

This is the list for the State of Louisiana. It looks like they all require vaccinations (outside of folks hanging around some places where they'll just give out what they have in stock. You can sort by Parish.
