So, between you and me...was there any subliminal messaging going on, and if so, was it beneficial?

****NSFW****

So I've seen it 3 times with my wife and she's seen it 2 additional times, not to mention the dozens of times we played the soundtrack in the car, and not 1 single time was it beneficial in that way to me. But we are married, so that's not really an option any way, apparently.

yeah, subliminal is not the way to go for married folks

For some reason, I just pictured the scene from The Other Side of the Mountain in which they make it look like Jill Kinmont literally flew off a cliff. One of the first tearjerker movies I ever saw. After the hoopla of the movies about her life, you never heard much about her. She died in 2012. Amazing woman.
I remember watching a sneak previews show hosted by Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert. The late 60's to early 70's were common for tearjerkers. According to Ebert,Hollywood was afraid of a strong woman and made them sick or injured. Love story with Ryan O'neal and Ali Magraw was also popular at the time.

In the Heights started streaming on HBO today
incredible
in particular the 'staging' of the numbers was stunning
if you're a fan of Hamilton you will recognize some cadences, modulations and beats (it was written about a decade before Hamilton- even more than Hamilton, it's clear that Lin Manuel is an amazing lyricist)

How many bands have members with PHD's ? Sha Na Na has two. That's incredible when you think about it .

Kris Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar.

Gram Parsons attended Harvard. Not sure if that counts, but I think it's a fun anecdote and he's got a "fun" death story if ya'll don't know it ... and a connection to NOLA.

Is it even possible for you to watch a bunch of kids in a school play, without noticing technical problems? Are you able to take off ur dancer/choreographer hat and just appreciate awkward adolescents putting themselves on the line, or nah ?
Im actually fairly forgiving of kids
not so much for directors and/or choreographers
too many short cuts taken bc they know nearly the whole house is friends/family
