My wifes Uncle was in that movie. He is the one that keeps stepping in the puddle.

Bill Murray is the one who keeps stepping in the puddle. But I assume you meant Needle Nose Ned Ryerson whom Phil is trying to get away from which causes him to keep stepping in the puddle. That's pretty cool.

No. I have only seen the movie once. Wasn't my kind of funny. My wife says her uncle steps in the water. I will try and find a picture. Is there a time maybe BM doesn't and someone else does?

I think at one point he finally learns to stop stepping in the puddle and some random guy steps in it instead.

When Murray doesn't step in the puddle, there's a businessman that walks by and steps in it himself. This scene shows that Phil is beginning to accept that it's the same day and that it's a situation he can take control of and take advantage of, and shows his selfishness by not warning others about the 'danger' they are approaching.
Edit: This is actually after the scene with the drunks and the police chase, so it's actually just an affirmation of his state of mind.

Also, is this your wife's uncle?

Yes. Uncle Bill. He died in a motorcycle accident a few years ago in Fox Lake.

Leslie Neilsen was such an underrated actor. He was known as a serious actor until Airplane. Airplane and the Naked Gun series showed he had comedic genius as well.

I wonder if you might like the film more if you approached it from the viewpoint that it's really the story of a man's redemption that happens to have humor, rather than a simple comedy with nothing below the surface?

It wasn't bad, I prefer comedies like Space Balls, or Deadpool. Is Deadpool considered a comedy? I laughed a lot so I am going to vote yes. Worse comedy I ever saw was the Royal Tannenbaums... God it was brutal.

If someone put that thread of yours where it was suggested REO SPeedwagon and Styx were the greatest bands of all time, you could have a winner, but never as good as some of those football posts.

The problem with him suggesting REO and Styx are the greatest bands ever is that he doesn't even consider the best albums by these bands, which pre-date their 1980's sellouts.

It wasn't bad, I prefer comedies like Space Balls, or Deadpool. Is Deadpool considered a comedy? I laughed a lot so I am going to vote yes. Worse comedy I ever saw was the Royal Tannenbaums... God it was brutal.

so i came to realize that almost all of the movies selected here were of the gags and bits variety - one-liners and sight gags, et al
and hardly any were of the 'witty' variety
there was one Coen Brothers movie mentioned (i've called it their most hi brow/low brow movie) and someone added 'The Thin Man' which is very witty
No Woody Allen (though i would not include him for 'problematic' reasons), no Paul Thomas Anderson, one Terry Gilliam, no tim Burton, et al and no Wes Anderson until you add a movie of his as a 'worst' even though that, Rushmore and Life Aquatic are very funny movies

Most smarter comedies are on the stage.

Lend me a Tenor is funny, but more gags.

Arsenic and Old Lace is very funny.

You know I don't want to think to laugh. When I watch a comedy I just want to sit back and just laugh. Waiting is one of those movies I can just laugh at. I find Ryan Reynolds funny. I can't really think of one of his movies I did not enjoy.

Zombieland! Funny stuff! Also the bowling movie with Woddy Harrelson. Kingpin I think.
