NHL and NHLPA agree to 56-game 2021 season. (1 Viewer)

For a sec I thought he was doing the wrap around to showboat, then I realized the puck was loose behind the net.

I wonder when the time comes, whoever wins the All-Canadian playoff series tournament, I wonder if the noble, high and mighty Canadian government, run by the eminently respectable, above-reproach PM Justin Trudeau will allow one of his "clean" NHL teams to play one of those "dirty, unvaccinated, anti-vaxxers, nut-job" American teams and God forbid, will he let one of his sports teams CROSS the border and play them for the STANLEY CUP and let the American teams' squads players not feel like their unwelcome, disgusting, anti-science foreigners when they cross over into whatever _______ Canadian city host's team to play their alloted Stanley Cup finals games at their arena.

I know I'm sounding very myopic and yeah I admit it it's extremely deliberate, obtuse, and vindictive sounding, but my God, sometimes Justin Trudeau comes off sounding like one of the biggest sanctimonious, elitist prigs there is, especially with the way he's treated the Toronto Blue Jays, their manager, players and their families, the assistant coaches, their families, treating them like unwanted, "American" stepchildren having to train, work out, live for 6 months or more in forking no-name, backwater Double-A, or Triple-A second- rate ballparks and motels for over a year and a half now. Back in the early 1990's and even during their 2015 and 2016 ALCS playoff runs, Skydome (Rogers Field) was a loud, impossibly nasty, intimidating home field advantage for those WS-winning teams in 1992 and 1993. When the Jays are a good, competitive playoff team, its next to impossible to replicate the same amount of intensity, fan excitement, pure, unadulterated joy and happiness and the explosive, competitive, jam-packed crowds the Jays attract when their winning. The closest equivalent to that same fan intensity,.excitement being re-created was when the Raptors won the 2018-19 NBA title. Downtown Toronto was like a riot zone unfolding on TV cameras all across international screens there was so much pandomonium. Contrast that with a halfway decent Jays team this season playing now in Buffalo in front of barely HS football crowds.

Basically, the Toronto Blue Jays have been a homeless MLB team since 2019.

The NHL announced yesterday they worked out an agreement with the Canadian gov't to allow cross border travel for games in the final 2 rounds.

Of course, after I post this they go and shirt the bed for 2+ games. Hubris.

Boy that city of Denver was awash in Avs fever when we were there last week. Esp after that 7-1 drubbing opening game. I was like " huh there is also the Nuggets" lol

That's good to hear and encouraging, not just for fans of any American NHL team who wins out but also fans of the Habs, Leafs, there won't be this since of embarrassment that the Stanley Cup Conference Finals or Stanley Cup Finals themselves won't be able to occur because the Canadian govt. still thinks its American counterparts are "unwashed, nutjob, anti-Covid 19 vaxxers". I know that's not the image, or perception that most Canadians feel or even God forbid how Trudeau's regime in Ottawa feels, but it has to bother some NHL fans on both sides of the border that maybe this misconception still exists, somewhere.

Carolina is the latest losing team to shake hands with the Lightning, expressing gratitude for Tampa allowing them on the same sheet of ice. Tampa wins in 5.

Tampa’s speed is just scary. I want to continue to think that the Avs are the most complete team, but they have stumbled and bumbled of late. Montreal and the Islanders have been surprisingly impressive.

TB v Co would be a great Finals
Totally would, but the Avs are shirting the bed. Just really not looking like the same team in this series and headed for an early playoff exit. Again.

Holy crap! When I made that post, the Avs were up 2-0 and I didn't watch the 3rd period. Damn.

Tampa v Montreal. Vasilevskiy v Price.

Expecting a lot of low-scoring, close games in this series. Should be fun.
I give Tampa the edge but Montreal has overachieved this season so I cannot count them out.
Tampa wins in 6 games.
