Loki Disney Plus - Trailer (2 Viewers)

I may have to come back to this later.

My first question is that now that we know Loki will be helping to hunt "bad" Loki... is this another variant or is it this version of Loki (I'll call him Loki prime) later in the show after a turn to bad?

We know the "bad" Loki knows about the TVA and their reset bombs. Since he sets traps for them and has been taking them. Loki Prime has yet to see the bombs, I believe.

Loki had a whole range of emotions seeing how his past played out and how his future was supposed to play out. True grief for his mother. Some love / sentimentality for Thor.. it was like the sort of redeemed Loki we see in ragnarok.... then he sees Thanos kill him. That totally took him to a different place. All the warmth was gone and I think he was now seeing a new plan. The power of the TVA, infinity stones as paper weights. He can make Thanos his puppet. I think he plays along and then is on the run and turns heal by the end, sets off a.bomb at the TVA and unleashes the multiverse of madness.

He still craves power at the end of the day. He is always trying to work the angles to keep an advantage. But he knows that now is not the time to fight it.
I have a feeling that, at the end of the day, the TVA - at least as it currently exists - will be the "bad guy." The bureaucracy and predetermination of everything, the lack of choice and free will/freedom, will be the issue. Which is interesting, because it's exactly how Loki said he planned to rule as King of Midgard, but maybe doesn't like it so much when he finds how small he was in the grand scheme. I think the Loki they're chasing could well be an older version of the Loki we're following, and he's just trying to tear the TVA down. That said, it's still super early for predictions, because we haven't even seen what they're going to have Loki doing.

The theory I saw is that it's going to be Lady Loki. There's a credit for a stunt Loki variant that's female.

big picture, i think Marvel is more interested in showing different timelines (different actors playing the same character) like Spiderverse, than to have evil 616 Loki in a goatee or something
since the minute men grabbed our Loki in time there was no Nexus event, so AS FAR AS WE'VE SEEN, there wouldn't be an opportunity to have a bad 616 Loki

to the particular question, i don't think you show how small Thanos is (with bauble infinity stones) and then try to conquer Thanos - bad Loki is probably after TVA power

*"616" was the designation on Loki's file - if they're staying consistent, that's 'our' timeline (the one we've been watching)
imma guess that it's going to be important to distinguish different timelines soon
What I meant was that Thanos, a supreme power who killed him, would be nothing now. I didn't meant it as a revenge thing. Even though it would be possible. More that the infinity stones would be play things compared to controlling the timeline and being able to reset any reality.

Only thing I’ll add to this is that stones only work in their timeline
So he would have to get the 616 time stone and change this…
behind the scenes, the writers have talked about how hard they are working to make the time travel rules make sense - so like there aren’t the problems if Steve Rogers going back in time and living a whole other life
Loki changing 616 timeline creates all the problems for every movie/show hats come before
BUT
They weren’t super subtle with their ‘hey it’s getting close to the redline so we have to get out of here’ thing- which really seems like it’s foreshadowing an irreparable change to the timeline, so…???

I enjoyed it because of the main characters and alt-70s vibe but I really, really hate mutliverses/time travel loops/alternate timelines. My brain is way too literal.

For me, Loki was better than WV and much better than FATWS (which I never even finished watching)

I never knew that Loki's last name was Laufeyson.
My son loves this book and it has the frost giant Laufey in it. I was not aware that was Loki's biological father until I saw the show then looked up Laufey on wikipedia.
I'm guessing a lot of you knew this and it was probably mentioned in one of the Thor movies and I missed it.

Yes, Odin tells him in the 1st movie

And since most have said something similar (about liking Loki more) and since I guess Infoman blocked me and won’t get into a lather about culture commentary about a cultural product …

it should be noted that most on here are saying ‘I prefer the story about the middle aged white guy being stymied from using his innate powers by a feckless bureaucracy than the story about the woman grieving or the black guy trying to claim his rightful place’

yes the other 2 shows had some issues (and this might eventually as well) but I would argue a lot of their issues come from the difficulty in trying to tell those stories in a cultural landscape that makes it easy to see Walter White as a hero and his wife as a harpie or struggles when a Luke Skywalker wasn’t frozen in amber like a favorite toy in mint condition packaging

mans im not saying, ‘don’t like what you like’ I’m saying ‘use some perspective and don’t just be reactionary about your media preferences’

We'll see where LOKI goes but it might just be that its easier to watch and more universally relatable to tell a story about the Rebel vs the Faceless Machine than it is to stop your action story for a 10 minute soliloquy on racism.

Comic books have always been political but they're at their best when they're serving you the politics as a seamless part of the story and not breaking the 4th wall to say Here is the Message Part!

FWIW I liked FAWS more than WV, though I liked both.

Sure, and the counter would be that it’s ‘easier/universal’ bc that’s been the dominant cultural story/image
That other stories feel compelled to make up for decades of being sidelined

again I’m not making definitive statements, just asking to consider additional information
