I will keep an eye on it. If my symptoms get any worse I will get tested
How is your sense of taste and smell? My daughter told me many of the patients she treated said a cup of coffee tasted like hot tap water. My son in law caught it and lost his sense of smell for a few weeks.

It was ok yesterday. I had a nasty case of covid a year ago but didn't lose taste or smell

The co-worker I mentioned a few times that suffered long term heat damage never ran a fever. Imo, these temp checks before you enter a building are useless as tits on a bull

I wouldn’t say useless, though certainly not perfect.

Like with wearing masks and social distancing, every measure is about reducing the risk of spread. None of them are fail-safe.

If a business can reduce the number of people passing through who are infected, that acts to reduce the potential for transmission. Maybe not as significantly as we’d hope, but it works towards that goal. It also doesn’t hurt to turn away people who might be sick with something else to avoid spread of some other illness at a time when medical resources are taxed already.

Not worried about the beach aspect or in our own rental home. Travelling in an enclosed plane-tube there and back has me concerned.
Masks.

Also, that air is HEPA filtered. I think the cabin air is recirculated with outside air every 3-8 minutes.

So far it seems like flying has been very safe.

I just make sure the kids know the protocol about keeping masks on and washing/ sanitizing hands.

Of course, our whole family is now vaccinated, so less concerned.

Thanks - I'll keep it in mind.

Actually, you’re probably ok on the plane. You roll the dice on the couple of people directly next to you but otherwise the ventilation provides a great deal of protection. However, the airport itself…sheesh!

I flew last June (out of pure necessity). I was pretty terrified of doing so TBH beforehand. I took all of the steps I needed from a personal standpoint to do what I could (mask, wipe everything down after going thru TSA/before sitting in a plane seat, etc.). Granted, I was on edge the whole time, but it went w/o a hitch. It helped with my apprehension for the flight back.

Now that I'm vaxxed, I feel much better about flying if I have to. At this point, it's the stories about the passengers going nuts on flights over masks that raise any eyebrows...

I wouldn't travel on a plane if u paid me and I was vaccinated in March .
I live about 3 miles from Rehoboth, Dewey, and Lewes Beach here in Delaware so I got the whole beach thing covered. I can't wait for labor day so all the tourist stay home and limit bringing in sick visitors. I have a daughter who's starting kindergarten this fall and she needs social interaction. They just said starting the school year with masks ( thanks anti vaxxers)

Yeah there simply hasn’t been any meaningful evidence of planes spreading virus. To the contrary, some analysis has shown their air systems to be quite good at preventing spread (with masks as an additional mitigation factor).

I've flown 4 times(2 roundtrips) this summer. Most recent was this past Monday/Wednesday to LAX from DFW. Both are massive airports and there were lots of people. The vast, vast majority wore masks in the airport except if they were eating/drinking something. Same experience on the plane. I may have gotten lucky to not have had any unruly passengers on any of the flights. This is just my experience.

I think there are WAY fewer no-mask troublemakers on planes than the popular media/social media would have you believe. It's just that when one crops up, they get lots and lots of coverage, complete with someone's phone video. Makes it look like every flight has a half-dozen mask-malcontents when it's more likely one in several thousand air travelers, if that many.

999 times out of 1,000, when challenged or when anticipating a challenge, anti-maskers mask up and just grumble and complain for the duration.

Very likely true. The airports have constant PA messaging about the policy and the consequences. The flight attendants and the pilots also reiterate the policy and the repercussions of non-adherence.

I believe masks are still required of all passengers on planes at all times. Between that and the hyper filtration that planes carry, it should be the least of your worries.

The safest feeling when flying is coming back to the U.S. You are required to present a negative covid test or proof you are not contagious anymore, or they don't let you board.

Do you have a source for this? I'd like to pass this on to a family member who will be traveling to the US in a few weeks.
