There are so many different ways to go about shopping for a vehicle these days it’s crazy. What are some services that you you have used and had good experiences with that you would recommend? Also now that I have Lt. Dan legs are you familiar with any places that you might know of to do modifications to vehicles to allow hand controls for acceleration and braking?

Don’t expect a wide selection right now. I’ve past some dealerships and they barely have cars/trucks right now. There is a shortage right now. However I’ve heard good things about CarMax. Good Luck!

I'd recommend talking to a group of like individuals to find out what they like in a vehicle for people with your needs. They likely have a much better grasp on tricky things I'd never be able to consider.

I did a quick look and didn't find anything particularly helpful. Therefore, I'll just put the suggestion out here and you can find what suits you the best if you think it's worthwhile.

Best of luck to you in finding what you need.

Check out amsvans.com or search for conversion vans. If that's what you are looking for.

Check out Auto Tempest. It's like Kayak for cars.

It's a shirt time to buy right now anyway. I'm in the market for a new truck and it's just absolutely ridiculous for new and even more ridiculous for used right now. So, I'm forced to wait until people get their heads out of their arses.

Truth.

If there is any way you can wait until later in the year, or 2022, to buy a new/used vehicle, you should wait.. i just saw somehting that said new car sales are up 42% over this time last year, and used is up 37%.. way, way more demand than supply.. To me, it’s a lot like the real estate ‘bubble’, where people say it ‘has to crash’ at some point.. i am not so sure about real estate crashing any time soon.. but i feel like the car/truck market will correct itself , for the most part, within the next year once suppliers start catching up with demand.

Tony... What kind of vehicle are you looking for? Any specific vehicle that you have in mind?

Tony, you may want to start out from a birds eye approach here. This is a whole new ballgame. Sure, you can modify a vehicle, but do you want one wheel chair accessible?

I had a neighbor who had a minivan with the side ramp. The drivers seat was removed (or maybe foldable), so he would remain in his motorized chair.

Modified vehicles.

I'm in a bind because my vehicle was totaled the first week of July when straight line wind threw a tree at it. I'm having to use my dad's truck until the prices settle down. I've already looked around at used vehicles and it's ridiculous, at least for a decent ride.

I thought about buying a year ago, and I'm kicking myself for not pulling the trigger then. Now, I'm just gonna sit and hope supply catches up in the next 12 months or so.

My employer is part of a partner pricing program with GM and I think some others and the savings we got was way more than I expected.

I think you should wait if you can. It’s definitely a seller’s market right now.
A coworker’s wife is disabled and uses hand controls in her car. They had the controls installed in Hattiesburg. I don’t know where but I can ask him if you want. My coworker told me that a shop has to be certified to do the work.

Thanks for that info but I’m determined to be able to sit in the drivers side no problem. I have one prosthetic leg and I will have 2. I may need a wheelchair for some activities but not all. I was born a hardheaded child and now I’m a hardheaded old man.
