Man, he had an absolutely phenomenal post-game interview. When you are congratulating the equipment guy, you are definitely setting a humble tone.

Smart, gracious, really a class act. Never thought I would be saying it about Jameis WInston. Seemed absolutely Brees-ish.
I was very impressed with his overall show of leadership and maturity. When Mccoy went out, JW2 took control, got a ball from a ref and took some snaps with the backup, then when he got back in the huddle you could see him waving his arms saying something directing the whole huddle, showing he had it. A complete 180 from the guy in TB.

Winston was great today. Big yardage days can be misleading. How often does a QB throw for 350+ because he’s in a shootout or playing from behind? Something about this game reminded me of the Eagles game in 09. The Saints just did whatever they wanted to do all game long.

Winston played smart football today. He ran when he needed. He threw it away instead of forcing it and aired it out as needed. Just very impressive. His best game as a pro
Wow I was just thinking about that game and the soul crushing clock eating drives Drew used to run. This game reminded me.

Like I said in the gameday thread, what we saw today was Florida State Jameis. Patience, willingness to run, checkdowns, leadership, everything. This was probably the most fun game Jameis has had since that National Championship season as a redshirt freshman. For the first time in his NFL career, it wasn't all on him. He had a great OL (seriously, Ruiz hasn't played center in a year and a half and plays like THAT??), a great running game, and a defense he knew he didn't have to compensate for. And the playcalling by Payton and Carmichael was simply masterful.

No disrespect to Drew either, but I can't remember a game where he was this efficient. The last few years there was always at least one dumb turnover. This game was flawless execution.

Who thought that? This is a Sean Payton designed offense, we take shots down field but it's a west coast based system so the short intermediate passing game is the bread and butter mixed with a potent rushing game opens up the deep ball shots when called.

I can say and alot of people can agree though it's just one game you can't act like your weren't surprised by the lack of a passing attack today.

I can act like I'm not surprised because I'm not. The run heavy attack is what I have been hoping for....because we went on a 9 game winning streak where we ran more than we threw the ball....

This offensive line's strength is run blocking, SP knows this. Will that continue? It depends on the opposing defensive schemes/alignments....I fully expect SP to dial up more passes if the Panthers show heavy fronts, which I also expect.

People thought we were going to be this crazy run and shoot offense because of Winston but that’s not Payton and that’s not what we need from Winston. Dink and Dunk offense is boring but if run right you can dissect a D and rip their soul out. I said in another thread. Take what the D gives you, don’t turn the ball over and we’d be fine.
Yes, and just wait until Winston feels comfortable. I think he will settle in just fine. Right now, all he hears is about his last time in Tampa, 5000 yards plus 30+ interceptions, now replacing a legend....... Heck with all that. When Jameis settles down and has to stop answering the same stupid questions about the 30+ interceptions and what is it like coming after Drew.....this team will shine in a light like no other.

Payton has in Winston what he didn't have in Drew. And we all know Drew as the GOAT. Jameis is very intelligent and has been so humble waiting for his chance. There are nerves and then there are nerves. Every player has nerves before a game, but once they get that first contact on the field, their normal playing ability takes over. I can't even imagine what Winston must be feeling.....like nerves on steroids, plus add on to it that your first "home" game is played 550 miles away and you have been practicing 520 miles away in the opposite direction.

It might have been a blessing in disguise that the first home game was played elsewhere. But if the Saint's are 3-0 heading into the real first home game of the season, and Jameis has seriously taken this team as his own, the crowd at the Superdome will be something he has never seen or heard before. Jameis has a chance to make history in more ways than one.

Geaux Saints and Geaux JW

I’m just wondering is St. Greg is wondering how Taysom would have done.

I think well. We ran for 170 yards and held the packers to 3 points. That's a tough game to screw up. Tag me next time. Just do the @ and saintgreg like this @blasian
