THAT is Jameis (1 Viewer)

You're not wrong. But I'm not wrong either. Wasn't Winston's favorite play from last week the one where he threw the ball away? Better than a sack or an INT.

He played poorly. That's a fact. It's also a fact that the entire offense played poorly and the loss isn't on Jameis. Both can be true.
Everyone should at least admit that he played poorly. That's the bottom Line. He didnt kill some horrible play calls and he didnt audible. He was out there like a damn 1st year QB listening to every word, and resorting to making some nonsensical plays, like the one that stopped us scoring before the half.

Yes, we have never been without any drafted WRs and Kamara has been getting blanked since the Tampa game last year.

He was pressured, with guys literally on him, more than we ever seen since the Superbowl, bc Ruiz didnt know what the hell he was doing.

This is an eye opener, and I'm glad that we are back down to earth, so we can fix this and go to NE, kill that rookie QB that's falling apart at the seams up there.

My hope is that the Patriots' massacre of the Jets on Sunday will have them playing just like we did after we torched the Packers in Week 1.
Sean didn't have the answer for getting his players focused after a big win. I wonder how Belichick will handle this same scenario.

Making adjustments on the fly is our Achilles heel. We great at HT adjustments but in game.....yeesh.

I want Jameis to be the kind of QB/leader that can get his team refocused and make the audibles that can take advantage of the defensive schemes and get his offense moving again.
No I don't expect him to be able to read defenses as well as Drew did. But whoever we have as our starter in the future better come pretty close to what Brees could do in that regard, or else we need to keep looking.

It is through adversity you show your true grit and value. Jameis has historically been very good against the blitz (over 70% completion if I remember right). Yesterday he looked confused, did not call out the proper protection schemes (even when you could see the safeties creeping up for a blitz). But it was his decisions on throw aways and trying (again) to be a superhero, when you are under such pressure. He should be religious about taking care of the ball. Fight for another down rather than toss it away ... in hope for a miracle. I am sure he is very dissapointed in his performance. He has done "the talk" now for weeks .. now he must "walk the walk"
He "walked it" in the first game but there was very little adversity. He had a terrible game but I honestly need to see some film breakdowns to know if it was a bad presnap read, the o line got beat, or he should have just eaten the sack.

Theres nothing anyone can do about it. He is who he is.

Put me in coach.
At times of little/any adversity shows the true identity of a Saints fan...meaning those who have been here before [vs] those who sway with wins and losses.

You couldn't have been around during those good ole Steve Walsh or Heath Shuler or (both) Billy Joe days with a response like this...it's only game 2 with A LOT of season left ahead of us...and oh by the way Winston is definitely a WAY better QB than those mentioned above even though "he is who he is"...

That's valid but when nothing is working I don't know what the solution is.

Just to clear this up... Half time adjustments are a myth. They barely have time to get into the locker room and have a seat before they are sent back out on to the field. If you saw any of the Peyton and Eli Monday night football, that is the main takeaway. Half time adjustments are a complete myth.

go to 7 minutes for the Halftime adjustments....

Valid point but with the majority of the offensive coaches out in-game adjustments did suffer.

But it’s not just the game plan. Pass protection also relies on the quarterback and center to identify defensive alignments and assignment protection adjustments before the snap. With his vast experience and famed preparation habits, Drew Brees was a master at these pre-snap reads and checks. And Erik McCoy had shown remarkable aptitude for the responsibility, as well.

“Jameis is a talent. I’m not gonna take that away from him,” Panthers defensive end Brian Burns said to The Athletic afterward. “But Drew had a way of getting rid of the ball, and he was very decisive when he did it. Drew was a legend, obviously. I wouldn’t call it a drop-off. It’s just a different quarterback.”

Frankly I counted at least 7 times that the Panthers were lined up for a bull rush on defense and then did exactly as they were showing. Yet Jameis still setup for the long pass play rather than audible to a quick dump play as we've been accustomed to seeing in the past. That sure would have been better than throwing the ball away or taking the sack. Do you suppose that Winston is being handcuffed by his coach? If so, the question has to be, 'Why?'

It’s what they do. Payton said they knew exactly what Carolina wanted to do and they simply didn’t prepare the linemen well enough.

People trying to put this on Jameis somehow is amazing to me.
The same thing people did for Brees, the QB always gets the blame.

Doesn't matter if he passes for 4 TDs and 400 yards. The QB gets the blame even if he was perfect and the Defense gives up 600 yards and five TDs. The nature of the game.

Now everyone on the team from whatever coaches we had on down deserves blame on yesterday's game.

Been the same as forever. Go back to the bad games in 07, 08, Brees was catching it then. Jameis a big boy, he can handle fans being mad at him because they dont like what they see.

QB gonna always get the credit and blame. Let's not even talk about hiw they treated AB, who won our first playoff game. We were dealing with some serious stuff with that. Jameis can handle fans being upset, critical...or even just not liking him...nothing new.

I know Terron said that there were serious communication issues, so I honestly don't know. obviously, he does not have the free-range with plays like Drew but he has the ability to switch from a run to a pass or vice versa. Nick and Deuce should have the film breakdown soon, so I think we will have a better idea. It's not like the Packers didn't try to blitz last week.
