Here's the actual text of the law:

What I don't like about it: There's no clear phase in period. To have any teeth they should have a set a goal of "X1% by year Y1, X2% by year Y2, etc. But the way the law is written, there's no enforcement mechanism for this. So they do nothing for 10+ years, (because hey, they don't have to) 2034 rolls around and still 90% of vehicle sales are ICE. And then the legislature proceeds to repeal the law.

They should have set an attainable interim goal, reachable in maybe 5 years, like 25% of new passenger and light-trucks.

Yeah I think it’s really just an aspirational “law” at this point to try to set a policy goal and influence the stakeholders to work toward it. It would clearly require additional framework but perhaps this law allows the regulatory structure to do that.

On Thursday, the automaker introduced a membership program that will grant Rivian owners access to complimentary charging at its soon-to-be-built Adventure Network and Waypoints chargers. It also pledged to match every mile Rivian Membership customers drive with energy from renewable resources such as wind and solar, as well as offer unlimited access to 4G LTE connectivity.

Additionally, the service includes Rivian off-Roadside Assistance, additional coverage that will see the company send a recovery vehicle to you if you get stuck out on the trail or need an emergency battery recharge. The company also promised to add additional perks in the future, including new drive modes, community meetups and in-cabin content. Each new Rivian vehicle will come with 12 months of free access to the service.

Getting ready to make a 6-ish hour trip in our Model 3 and used Tesla's trip planner to show superchargers along the way and at the destination. Stopping to charge adds about an hour each way, so that isn't bad. All of the supercharger locations are at service centers that have restrooms and food courts.

You own a Model 3? How do you like it? [I've ordered one, but reserve the right to change my mind.]

We have had the Model 3 (extended) since 2019 and love it. It is very comfortable and can be very fast when you want it to be. We are still learning about the features and doodads, but the wide range of available features top anything I've seen in any other EV. Ours is red with a white interior and surprisingly it stays very clean inside. We originally purchased more for my wife when the Hellcat was stolen. It doesn't have a lot of miles and when the phone charging module stopped working we were able to schedule mobile service where they come to you.

In the app:
1. Request mobile service on the day and date you want.
2. Tesla service connects (you give them permission) and runs a diagnostic, not just one what you requested service for, but the whole car.
3. Tesla orders parts and confirms the service date or rescheduled as necessary.
4. Charges (if any) are clearly spelled out in advance so you can accept or deny.

If you accept the service (our part was under warranty) they arrive at the scheduled date and time and do whatever they need to do to fix the car. They also identified one other issue during diagnostics that they fixed. The mobile mechanic put paper mats on the floor and wiped things down where needed. He also checked the tires and when needed, pumped them up to the right pressure. He did a walk around, checking the lights and cameras. I was really impressed.

Heads up, there are multiple reviews on the Rivian R1T on YouTube. So far, I think this one is the best.

Cool - thanks. Not that anyone cares, but we ordered the 2021 LR dual motor, blue exterior, upgraded wheels, white on black interior. Passed on full self driving, though.

We also passed on the full self-driving mode. I am just not that wound up about stuff like that yet. They're coming out with (or have) a plan where you can "rent" that mode.

You had a Hellcat that was stolen? That sucks.
