A suspect accused of ambushing and killing a state trooper and shooting 4 other people has been arrested Ascension Parish/EBR

Not so much accused as he did.
This happened just a few miles from my housein Prairieville. Guy shot 2 people in Livingston Parish, came to Ascension Parish, shot 2 more people, killing one, had a shootout with a State Trooper, was on the run in a small area between Ascension Parish and East BR Parish, ambushing and killing a State Trooper in the process. From what i heard, had multiple shootouts with officers. He was hiding in the woods for most part of the day and late evening (on the Ascension/EBR parish line). Had officers from Ascension, Livingston, Baton Rouge and State Troopers all looking for him, and also multiple helicopters.
Needless to say they finally caught him, he surrendered, he must have run out if bullets.
It was a crazy 12 or so hours around my area with police cars zooming all over the place and road closures.

The red pin is where i live and the yellow highlight is where he shot the 2 in Ascension Parish and killed the State Trooper(in the Capital One parking lot which was at the fron of the street where he shot 2 people). A lot hasn't been released on if the Trooper was shot before or after he shot the other 2 or if he was shot during the manhunt. There are about 5 miles between me and where all this happened.

I feel like this is a case of he was caught red handed and should have been shot on sight.

Saw the electronic sign this am on Causeway - blue with name and EOW date for the LSP trooper.

sigh.

My best friend retired from LSP effective 10/1 and he had a retirement party on Saturday Night while all of this was going down. He is very spiritual but not usually emotional but he was visibly upset on Sunday.

This dumbarse will never know or comprehend how many lives he effected in a negative way. I can't wait to hear the excuse as to what society did that he will blame for him to go on this spree.

I'm sure it's something that society "didn't" do...

I live across Airline from you. Had a wedding in Baton Rouge Saturday night and parked my truck at a friend's house on Ho Shoo Too Rd so we could ride together. For a while there we weren't sure we'd be able to go back home that night until he was caught as Ho Shoo Too was blocked off.

From talking to different people in the area, Ascension/Gonzales and LSP lost one of the truly good guys. I am interested in finding out through their investigation how they didnt find his body for 12 hours after being ambushed and whether he could have been saved if found sooner. RIP to Officer Gaubert.

State police are saying that during a manhunt they run radio silent. So I am assuming that until the criminal was caught they didn't notice the trooper not checking in.

I saw somewhere that the Trooper made a traffic stop.around midnight, pulled into the bank parking lot to do paperwork. the Trooper was shot and killed right next to the street where Mire shot the other 2 people. there is no way the Trooper was killed during the manhunt. there is no way Mire made his way back to where the Trooper was and back to the Hooshootoo area on foot. he must have been killed right after or before Mire shot the people on Dutton Rd, before the manhunt began.
On the radio they said the Trooper was there for about 15 hours before he was discovered.
how did this get overlooked for so long so close to the crime scene?
