This was your second chance to connect the dots. And all you have is a link to an nypost article, which actually reads more like an editorial.

There’s no explanation nor link nor justification. You keep making the claim - a bold one, at that, but have only continued to use the power of suggestion and some variation of innuendo in place of actually demonstrating the integrity of your argument

And still no explanation about how what I see and live in is not reality.

You’re only hurting your own credibility with this sort of casual laziness
I gave you my opinion on the matter. If you can't see the danger of government and social media working in concert to manipulate public opinion, I'm sorry, you'll just have to decide for yourself that's it's unimportant.

I seriously wonder how old some of you are.
As I young person, I believed whatever came out of the TV news. The government was good and looked out for my best interest. As I’ve grown older I traveled the world. I’ve seen how governments oppress a population. When a new regime comes in they use the enforcement arm of the government to attack their political enemies. They install their people in all levels. Why ? To control the dam money that’s what it all comes down to. Going to other places opened my eyes as to the same crap other governments don, ours does to. It hasn’t just started either, it’s been going on my whole life. I just didn’t have enough experience to see it as a young person. If you are looking for utopia and justice I hate to tell you but it doesn’t exist. Nowhere. Whoever is in power and authority abuses, it’s human nature. Not everyone is going to like you and you can’t legislate human feelings. Whether it be for the color of your skin, your hair cut, one leg shorter than the other whatever. Don’t sweat it, keep pushing on, love what you can love and try to let the sun shine on your face every now and then. If you like the Saints then you are my friend by proxy and are welcome at my table anytime.
Rant over, lol

More casual dismissal. This time by age.

I’m 45.

Am I not old enough and, therefore not wise enough, to disagree with your post?

Is someone growing up, young, in a terrible and dangerous part of town who has been caring for younger siblings since they were 8-years old somehow more naive than someone twice their age who lives in the privileged upper echcolons of the Upper West Side and the Hamptons?

It gets very tedious to read these summary dismissals based on things like “your world isn’t real, mine is” or “you’re young and therefore naive and therefore wrong and I’m the opposite”

If you actually think these things, what’s the purpose of dialogue that you’re just going to end up discounting because of {insert arbitrary specious criterion here}

[Legislatively] a good place to start is enforcing anti-trust laws on the books. Companies such as Twitter, Facebook, and Google hold far too much power to manipulate public information [through defacto censorship].
Ooooook, except for the part of the quote that I put in brackets, I don't really disagree. But earlier you were talking about expansion of First Amendment application to private companies on an argument that they were somehow acting as an agent of the government. YOU DON'T HAVE A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OF ACCESS TO FACEBOOK OR TWITTER OR ANY OTHER PRIVATELY OWNED PLATFORM. If you want to argue violation of anti-trust laws, fine -- but you're mixing apples and elephants when you bring in the First Amendment.

I teach media literacy. Deep dives on things like media’s function and autocratic rule. How to separate and evaluate information on a spectrum of validity.

So, I should be sympathetic to your cause.

But you just want me to clap as you tilt with windmills. And that’s not how this works.

You suggested I don’t live in reality. And now you are saying I am blind.

You keep coming up with these non-responses that do nothing to validate your initial idea. Even here, you say it’s my opinion but two lines later, it’s somehow become fact. Which is it?

This is causal opportunism with nothing more than condescension as the method of dismissal of anything to your contrary

Well my hair's all gray and I'm not sure what your point is. How is any of the above different from the earliest days of our Republic?

Baldwin was part of the black inteligencia, that was forced out of America through racism and threats of violence. He was an American treasure.
I think he might be the most important and relevant writer right now. One of them, certainly.

No friend, I said I was living in reality in response to your "You’re seeing ghosts." insult.

I wish you well in your instruction of media function and autocratic rule. It's badly needed.

I was just reading an article about Dick Gregory...now, there's another American treasure.

There's no need to expand the constitution. But to rather enforce the constitution.

I really did no expect to agree with you the way this thread has been going lol. Anti trust laws, or the enforcement of that is, reeeally need to make a comeback.

You have already put more time in the article than he.
You get to learn a lot about about certain publications over time and oof, is the NY Post one of the harder ones to get through. Political leanings be damned, the writing alone. Woof

My favorite Baldwin observation was:

'When the South has trouble with its Negroes -- when the Negroes refuse to remain in their 'place' -- it blames 'outside agitators' and 'Northern interference.' When the nation has trouble with the Northern Negro, it blames the Kremlin''

There's not a problem in American they can't find a way to blame on the Russians...

A pivital moment for me in my entire life was when I actually listened to the Baldwin/Buckley debate. I was in my mid 20's and thought how in the world has Buckley still made a career for himself all these years? It hit me like a ton of bricks... The worst of it is Baldwin is still, somehow, as prescient as ever.
