Where’s the pass rush? Who’s at fault? Interesting numbers here: (1 Viewer)

So we should have opened up the bank and give him 15mill a yr for 4yrs? ........like I said, let's tally at the end of the season.

He was our best pass rusher last year. And he'd be our best pass rusher this year. Teams don't let guys like that just walk out the door. It's a pretty low risk contract the Bengals signed him to. They can get out of it next year with just 7.5mil dead money. And that number goes down to 5 in 2023 and 2.5 in 2024. I'm guessing they'll keep him.

I don't think you're wrong about anything you just said but none of this is in a vacuum. Who are you letting go to sign him???

I know the answer is usually "Mickey Magic" but his magic is based on restructuring other contracts, back loading, voidable years etc, it's really not magic. Problems is, they literally restructured EVERYONE on the team that was eligible in order to purge $100,000,000 from the cap.

We letting Ram walk? We letting Latt walk? We letting Williams walk? Some tough decisions

Lastly, THex performed at that level for ONE year, has his own injury issues and is a one dimensional pass rushing defensive end who doesn't play the run great...

I think all the best decisions were made based on the information and resources we had at the time and I feel like most agreed with the decision at that time.

If we have to do it that way teams usually prioritize pass rushers over safeties. But I would also be willing to let Cam Jordan go if it would clear up the money. I think I even suggested it last year.

Low risk? With 26 million he can keep.............................even if he never plays another down for them. He isn't even an every down DE, because he can't stop the run. They over paid for him, wait till he gets IRd and turns into their "Davenport".
