USMNT - The Berhalter Era (3 Viewers)

Wow. The talent gap we have over Mexico this year is evident. We definitely step up to competition. I am weirdly both supremely confident because of how great we've looked over Mexico three times this year but I also have this dread because we're only 3 points above 4th place and missing the WC, again.

We have to get some wins to separate from the pack.

True but we started slow. We have hit a stride and there’s good reason to be optimistic about more points to gain.

Fify.

And let me add, the U.S. should get to Catar. What they can't do, is think that beating MX is their WC. Those days are way in the past.

I didn’t mean this specific lineup - I meant the whole team from top to bottom. There’s no reasonable debate about that.

Then I weakly disagree :hihi:

What I do see, is a lot of youth with tremendous conditioning. That, the U.S. didn't have in past teams, and it bodes well for the future.

Don't get me wrong, I see the skill - well, not in this game :hihi: -, but other than Pulisic, they seem to lack the knack for creating plays.

I hear you but youth and conditioning doesn’t get you in the starting rotation at
Juventus, Chelsea, FCB, etc. Chelsea’s #10 came in at 67’ and scored on a brilliant run and header just three minutes later after a world class wing attack and assist.

This is another level for the US talent-wise. Youth is youth and has to learn that edge to take control of games, but let’s be honest, the bar wasn’t super high and it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re ready for the big boys. But they’re really strong by US standards.

I think what some people saw as a slow start and lack of quality from the US was actually great disruptive defending from Mexico. Their defense is stout.

I also thought Musah had a great game. Looked very dangerous in that Mexican back half.

That it took a small brushstroke of skill from Pulisic - who's world class - to open the scoreboard in the 67' against an atrocious defense should tell you something. And the MX defense is atrocious: how do you let the shortest guy on the U.S. team head the ball that low in the middle of the goalie's area? And the 2nd U.S. goal, the best assist by an MX player all night.

From my perspective, I thought the game should've been at least 2-0 before Pulisic scored.

If it makes you feel better to blame it on terrible MX defense, that’s fine - we love you and support your coping mechanisms. 😁

LOL!

Nah, man. I'm good with the U.S. winning. I got dual citizenship :hihi:
I'm even happy that they won in front of a true U.S. crowd. I thought it was funny when McKinnie made the shush sign when he scored his goal, because the "U.S.A." chants were loud.

But the MX defense is terrible. It is. Trust me on that one :hihi:

Side note: I didn't realize Tim Weah was the son of George Weah... great soccer genes.

Just got home
US scored it’s 2 while I was on the causeway and couldn’t check Twitter- hotel big time when I got to metry

FFed to the goals (I’ll go back and watch the whole match tomorrow), but MAN both goals showed some beautiful transition from D to O and some very organized space occupying
the mckennie goal was smarts creating luck
go back and watch the dude the ball deflected off, he saw the ball going in a few seconds before it was actually struck - Ha!

I'll trust you. Lol

But then I think how did you not know Tim is the son of George??
