LSU’s HC Next Year Will Be… (1 Viewer)

I am a big what you would call “dog person”…. But i was just made aware that Lincoln Riley has two dogs named ……………………………………. BOOMER and SOONER.

I am not sure how that would fly in Baton Rouge.

As long as they’re smart dogs. Especially the Boudreaux dog.

I don’t see the logic in going from Oklahoma to LSU.
Both are top programs. Oklahoma is a top recruiter.
Both in the SEC soon.
It’s lateral at best.

Yeh, I don't see him leaving OU unless it's to go to the NFL. And I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Think if what Riley has done at OU. Now think of how LSU won 2 natties (and played for a 3rd) with two complete morons as HC. Now think of what Riley could do at LSU. That's why he could leave.

But he’s not jumping from a second rate school. He’s already at a top rate school.

No one even me is saying OU is sheet. OU I would say is a top 10 job. What I am saying is Riley to LSU could be dynasty making. Riley could think to himself "yeah OU is great but have I reached my max here? While LSU has won tittles with Les Miles and Ed forking O". That all. Again no one is saying OU is a crap job.

But the concept of “reaching potential” is for D-2 schools. OU has won championships with multiple coaches and it’s lineage dates even farther than LSU’s recent run.

OK. OU has won 7 titles and LSU has 4. I mean I don't know what else to say. IF a career D-Line coach can walk in to LSU and can win a title and have a historical season yet you don't know why another coach could have interest in that job I don't know what else to tell you.

Luke Fickell think his decision to leave for LSU, USC, Florida, etc.... be affected by the Bearcats getting in the CFP or not getting in???

OU and LSU have had the benefit of being able to recruit across the country. They have been behind only a handful of schools including Alabama and Clemson. Now there are some other schools that are stepping up their game. The more that happens the more of a drain that causes on all the teams up and down the list. 5 years ago we would’ve never thought that Cincinnati would have a top 10 team. Now the recruiting strongholds are slipping away and other schools are benefiting from that.

The reason I said all of that is coaches are now looking hard at the pools they not only can draft from but really have a stronghold on. LSU has been loosing some ground because Texas A& isn’t letting those top prospects leave the state. Mike Leach and Lane Kiffin are doing a good job of drawing kids for visits and putting on a heck of a display for them. Some may say I’m crazy but Deion Sanders is also using his fame to sign some of those players that may not be the stars of the team but the ones who make up the backbone of their team.

I don’t have a clue what those in power at LSU are looking for in the next coach but my gut tells me they may be looking for a smart talented young coach. To be honest they may have their eyes set on a top coordinator. Someone who is considered the top star in their job who could come in and light a fire.

I’ve said many times I’m not a fan of LSU but I do want a competitive LSU because that makes the SEC better. I will however be a happy man when Saban retires and Bama can enjoy a few bad seasons.

The possibility of getting a level headed coach like Aranda really intrigues me. I haven't really looked up how well he might be able to recruit some top players in the country, but I get the feeling that he might find it somewhat easier than the competition he faces with the other big schools in Texas.

To me he has proven that the stage isn't too big for him since he has already turned Baylor into a competitive program that is now nationally ranked. If he has the connections to put a great staff together here, I see no reason why he could get LSU headed back in the right direction. I think he needs some serious consideration from the LSU brass.

Aranda is my #2.
