Wilson to the Saints makes too much sense, So it will never happen (1 Viewer)

In all fairness, Brady isn't throwing touchdowns like that if Lane doesn't get hurt. That put Tharold Simon on the outside and he was getting burnt all night. But I digress; if it wasn't for that defense, they wouldn't have survived the 4 interception Conference Championship against the Packers. *shrugs*
And the ever so great Aaron Rodgers had a terrible game as well. Sometimes those things happen. When the Seahawks were down 19-7, didn’t Russ lead them to TDs on 3 of their possessions after halftime? The last one in OT with a walk off TD. That NFCCG was like Russ’ third of fourth year in the league. Wasn’t like he was some bonafide HOF QB at that point. He accomplished more in the early stages of his career than most QBs have ever did.

I wish all the talking heads would stop talking about it, makes it hard for me to sleep, plus I have no idea how they could make it work, cap-wise, but the possibilities...

It's what the offseason is made for...
I'm not getting my hopes up.

Rodgers had a terrible game because of the defense holding them in check. Russ was cold in overtime but they aren't winning that game without Beast Mode (look at what he did the last 2 minutes) and that's whose performance was downplayed in that entire comeback.

I’m glad that you mentioned this. So, you have given everyone on those Seattle teams credit, except for Russell Wilson. Football is the ultimate team sport and Russ (even at a really young age) was great enough to win games. Since Russ got into the league, his team has either one the division or finished second (excluding this year). Now tell me was the Legion of Boom or Lynch around this whole time? Teams can’t be superior in all three phases year in and year out. Some of you need to stop discrediting Russ and give this dude some props. Every talking head in the league ( that’s affiliated with the NFL) labels this dude as a top QB in the league. It’s ok to admit it. I’m the biggest TB12 hater. I even hate Aaron Rodgers. Even I can look past my hate and acknowledge that a QB is tops in the league. I can get the argument about giving up draft picks, as a reason for not wanting a guy. Even I would have some concerns about the price tag, but c’mon…..to literally to not give this guy credit as being one of the best QBs in the league is ridiculous. All this guy has done is win since being drafted.

No, the world gave Russ credit for that game because he threw the game winning touchdown. What I'm telling you is offensively, they would not be in that position if it wasn't for Beast Mode, who didn't get his due credit and the defense who held up after Russ threw 4 interceptions. The same with Brady last year. He does not win that Super Bowl without that defense leveling up. The Chiefs did not have a single digit score for as long as Mahomes started until that game.

Also, I'm not discrediting Russ; I'm just giving credit where in what due in those Super Bowl years. The Seahawks had the #1 defense those year, they were a top 5 rushing team in 2013 and I know for sure they were #1 in 2014 but ranked in the bottom half of passing yard. Russ was asked to be efficient and not turn the ball over while relying on the run game and the defense holding the opposing teams to season lows. Did he show flashes? He most certainly did but that was the formula that Pete Carrol put in place. No one considered Russ a top QB in the league then but what they did do was say that the defense was one of the greatest since the 85 Bears, they had a great read option and Russ was an efficient game manager. What I'm saying is the Russ of today is not the Russ that was on the Seahawks that were NFC Champions.

Russell Wilson is a winner. Has been ever since he started as a rookie. He came back too early from injury this year. Pride stood in his way. He'll likely admit it sometime during the off-season. His competitive spirit is second to none.

Russell is not about yards, TDs or any other stat other that wins.

Seattle will do anything necessary to keep him. Of that I am certain.

I fully understand what you said, but you have critiqued Russ recently, even referring to his post-Legion of Boom days. And like I said, even when that defense was no more and Marshawn was gone as well, he continued to have success. The Legion of Boom never allowed 300 points in a season. Which is what a young QB needs. It was the perfect storm. Post L.O.B the lowest points allowed is 332. Russ has kept that team afloat with a semi-dependable run game (Carson always gets injured), a shoty Oline, and a very non-creative dufus OC. So, theoretically Russ was good back when they were tops in the NFC and he’s even better now by a wide margin. The guy is a really great QB. He’s in that elite tier and that’s widely spoken around the NFL. You may not like the way he moves in and about the pocket, but that guy does the three main things a QB should do:
1.) Great leader
2.) Takes care of the football
3.) Win

Now, ask yourself as to why our Front Office inquired about the availability of Russ? Bc you have to when it comes to a player of his caliber. If not, then your Front Office should fire themselves.

And I will say once again, I won’t cry over not getting Russ. I wouldn’t mind seeing us go crazy with adding a boat load of offensive talent around JW. However, if the FO decided to go and get Russ, then I would 100% understand why they did so.

I would inquire from Baltimore what they would need to part with Tyler Huntley.

No...I wouldn't do that either, I'm not for any scenario where we have to give up something other than cap space for another QB...and if we were to go down that route it for damn sure ain't Huntley

My critiques have been due to people thinking that Russ can come in and run a CSP offense. A lot of people look at stats, highlights, and records and think that it will translate here. BayouSAINTJoe asked a question that I've been presenting everything the topic of Russ comes up:

What is it about Russ' game that you think would be a huge plus over what we have now?
And I've been alone on that hill until recently but this is a legitimate question because they think that he will be plug and play in this offense and take us to the promise land but if folks really look at the games and be honestly, they would temper that expectation. I'm not saying that Russ isn't a great QB but what style of QB is he and how does that style mesh with what we are running here? How would that translate to wins? With the screen and timing passes being his worst passes, how would that gel with AK and CGM?

And I can't answer the question about why our front office inquired about the availability of Russ. Something I ask my self is, in a fair and open competition with CSP's playbook, who would win between Jameis and Russ. And if you decide to answer that question, ask yourself, what are you using to make that determination?

Regarding your three points...

1.) Great leader - If former Seahawks are to be believed, this can be debated but I'm not in the locker room.
2.) Takes care of the football - Yes he does
3.) Win - Yes, the Seahawks were successful

At the end of the day, I think that us building around what we currently would be better now and long term as opposed to going out and getting someone that will force us to lose picks or stay battling cap space for another decade. Even with all of the craziness that happened this year, we still owned the NFC South. Now imagine us healthy.

No worries, I've never been on the Russ train...I don't think he's that good, he rode on the coattails of the Leigon of Boom and Beast Mode...his numbers are average and if he were married to Sarah he'd be out of a lot of conversations.

People are so enamored with the name Russel Wilson, that they never really stepped back and actually watched him. Because if they did they'd find themselves scratching their heads wondering why is he struggling when he has DK and Lockett...and why did a prime Jimmy Graham struggle so much in SEA?

If SP can create plays for Teddy, JW, and TH7 ( all 3 have different playing styles) which led to victories, then there is no question that Russ can be successful here. You give that guy Russ a coach like SP……look out NFL.
Oh and about that old locker room on whether Russ was a leader or not….I would rather not take the word of some self absorbed, steroid infested foolios, that got away with a massive amount of holding. We even signed one of those dudes and he didn’t have the best attitude in the locker room.

Sarah???? Either you are trolling or straight disrespecting that GODDESS of a woman. Take it back, edit that right now😆
Oh and Lockett has had three straight 1K seasons and no less than 8 TDs. DK was “feeling himself” this year. Worrying too much about getting into it with opposing DBs. Still almost had 1K yards and 12 TDs. Like is also stated before, their OC Shane Waldron is a putz, that has zero imagination, who does not know how to utilize a TE. They are not the only team neither. The Packers hasn’t utilize their TEs during Rodgers’ entire career. I think it’s safe to say that Drew and SP made Graham what he once was.
