ESPN Report. Disturbing Stats regarding penalties and Saints (2 Viewers)

I think pretty much any statistician would say that the possibility of that happening is yeah……I’m still P'Oed off, but would pay a good amount $ to read Coach Payton’s book when he retires.

Also, not surprising that the Bucs went from 23rd to 3rd when Mr Complainer became their QB last season. I feel like the NFL prefers not to have the same team winning back to back so Brady doesn’t get the same help this year. The way the last Super Bowl was officiated was pretty much a joke. My friend that loves Brady, usually bets $20-30 on a game every now and then. Last Super Bowl he bet close to $1K on the Bucs. The reason why? “Brady usually gets the calls when he needs them”.

one of these is not like the others:

Here are the NFL teams whose opponents have been flagged the most in ...

the last four years
1. Steelers563
2. Titans540
3. Chiefs533
4. Bengals531
5. Falcons526

I have no words.
It’s even more ominous when offensive holding is the most called penalty in the NFL, and the Saints have been stout on their defensive front in that timeframe.

These stats indicate an unspoken vendetta against the Saints and Sean Payton for getting the rule on defensive pass interference changed in response to the most horrific non call in league history relative to the stakes.

There have been a few articles lately that back up what we see on the field. The Saints are being hosed by the league. There is a VERY low probability of being the team receiving the least help from the refs for 4 years in a row. That would be a damned near statistical impossibility to happen naturally.

I agree. Gayle really needs to become more vocal just to show her staff and players she has their back. Play the gender card, the media would be all too sympathetic to a cause against the NFL and maybe can influence change.

I'd like to see the stats before the no call as well as after. Also, I'd like to see the numbers pre-Bounty Gate and post-Bounty Gate.

Personally before Bounty Gate it seemed like the Saints were middle of the road when it came to penalties. I'm talking about penalties on us and the opposition. I remember being grateful that SP's teams played more disciplined, smart football. I don't remember getting a lot of help from the officials as far as calls against the opposition but that's not really something you notice until it becomes egregious.

But after the bounty debacle it seems like things got a little dicey. It wasn't just the amount of penalties (for and against) but it was when the flags were thrown. Big time return! No, flag. Crucial 3rd down conversion, flag. Oh wow we completed a Hail Mary! No you didn't, flag. Every one of our D lineman being blatantly held on a huge play, didn't see it. Can't be bothered.

And then after the no call forget about it. It's been a joke but if you point it out you are labeled as a tin foil hat person who thinks the league is out to get your team. Well now it's to the point that even ESPN is like wait, what?

It's in response for not playing along with the NFLs wishes with Rams. NFL had to have them in Superbowl that year to justify stadium and their decision to screw St. Louis and try LA yet again. So NFL was all in on a successful franchise in LA.
Then having that blatant no call explode in their face thru fans, well how do you punish a fan base without punishing the franchise? Lose.

We have to bite, kick and scratch our way to winning seasons. And probably will for sometime moving forward.

All very good points. And I would say it isn’t really ESPN that noticed it, just Triplett who is probably still a Saints fan!

And Cam Jordan must get the least amount of holding calls against him. It’s a joke!
