Would ya'll be happy with Dennis Allen as HC and.. (1 Viewer)

Payton is the offensive genius not Carmichael, so I have questions in terms of his ability to create an offensive philosophy and calling old Sean Payton plays dies not make you an OC.

Payton formulates an offense, can CarMicheal do that? Payton has visions for players, does Carmichael have an eye for talent like that?

Pete Carmichael calling the offense?

He knows Payton's system.
I would like to see us go out and find an aggressive young play caller. Who is the next Mike Shannahan, Sean McVay, heck a little know coach named Sean Payton. Most of us were screaming when we hired him.

I think DA deserves another shot but we won't attract offensive talent to NOLA with him at the helm.

Not a big fan of second chance head coaches. Norv Turner is the best (worst) example. DA had his shot and didn’t do so well. Belicheck is the one exception that comes to mind.
Belicheck is not the only one.

Dennis Allen gives us our best chance for stability. The defense (philosophy) stays and Carmichael can call a game similar to Payton. If there's a guy that you want to still have a similar Payton like feel, it's him.

If we're healthy next season, we can quite possibly be a winning team.

This is going to be the biggest blow Payton could create based on what he had. That’s not something easily replaced. He didn’t have a fixed way of doing things or an ego when it came to game plans where he forced things. There is also a reason we could usually pull thru in the 2nd half. He could see what was there to take.

I think Carmichael deserves a shot he did it in 2012 and when Sean Payton was out but I sadly think we are in for a drop off and I see no fix at QB because if Pitt comes calling I doubt Winston stays here or our ability to attract QB talent without Payton. 2022 is going to be payback year for all the good times we had over the last decade plus.

Maybe that fact alone lead to Payton’s last “I have seen enough”

I don’t want Dennis Allen as HC. His record in Oakland was terrible. It just seems like it would be the safe hire.
Let Loomis do a full, wide open search for our new coach. Allen as HC would be just settling.

I’m guessing Payton realized (or was told) we didn’t have the capital to swing a big name QB. Not saying that’s the only reason at all, but I’m sure it contributed.
For all of those advocating for change, I think DA is coach and there’s a change in OC with Carmichael going away.
With the good players we have, I think we have to stay in house for HC.
It also means there is no Russell Wilson or Derek Carr coming.
