Some observations of both players during tonight's game....

1. Jenkins - looks real good, quick and athletic. Very physical, had 1 INT which he almost turned into a pick-6, definitely looks the part and very intimidating. This guy would truly impact our secondary.

2. Laurinaitis - semi-impressed, definitely physical at the point of attack and aggressive but looks small and less imposing than AJ Hawk, looks small compared to the rest of the players, unsure if he will be dominated by bigger O-lineman.

Overall, as much as we really need a LB, Jenkins is a real imposing athlete. Very impressed w/ Jenkins although Laurinaitis still a better LB than Simoneau.

I agree about Laurinaitis......looks real small. I think the tale of the tape at the combine will really affect his draft stock. That's the last thing we need is an undersized LB/S tweener.

I agree with you so far. I've been very impressed with Jenkins, and we really need the CB help with McKenzie coming off the ACL injury. I don't think we'd go wrong either way, but Jenkins is my favorite at the moment.

I haven't seen him make very many plays. I have been looking for him after every play, and so far he isn't leaving a great impression. And I say that with regret because I have been wanting him to do good because I wanted him on our team.

As for Jenkins, I sure wouldn't mind having him on the saints team either.

wow i was just about to start a thread on this topic. However i was looking more@lauriniatis rather than jenkins because its not very often that a rookie corner comes in and impacts a team and would prolly do better drafting kenny phillips@free safety or a lb. now i havent watched the whole game but from what i saw from laurinaitis he gets pushed back out of the play far to often. doesnt look as if he sheds blocks well which would basically make him a younger mark simoneau. not saying that he will be but im just not impressed with his blockshedding, and ur right....he is a lil small. i still say phillips in the 1st and then trade back up and get ray meagulsa from usc<<my fault on the spelling

If Laurinaitis played for......say.....Texas Tech and his father wasn't some sort of celebrity he would not get near the hype. Just my 2 cents!

I agree. The only players I was impressed with from Ohion State were Grant and Gholston. Grant was playing lights out football and laurinaitis did diddly poo to warrant him being a top ten pick. I have watched numerous games from this year and last and can name better LBs in the country let alone better LBs (Grant) on his own team.

Jenkins would be a better FS than CB in my opinion. He has good ball skills and recognition ability.

Laryngitis=Overrated

I still want Kenny Phillips

Laurinaitis had 18 tackles, most ever in a title game-how is that not as advertised?

The majority of his tackles were after 5+ yards. I don't think any tackles were for a loss. he is overrated and Grant played better ball at LB tonight.

We already have linebackers like that on this team.

BigDSaint sums it up best.

I rather get Kenny Phillips... I wasn't impressed with Malcom Jenkins he was in the right spot at the right time when he got that int besides that he got beat a couple times.
