Saints "quietly" research Laurainitis and Jenkins (1 Viewer)

was actually disapointed in Laurainitis (sp)-I watched him almost every play and to be honest when LSU went up 31-17 he seemed to lose interest and his effort dropped. he may have had 18 tackles, but none were game changers and he had no big plays.

The best players on the field who id like in B&G were Hester (Mid round replacement for deuce?) and Dorsey

i will take 18 tackles in a game any day over what our LB's do

If you guys only knew what a stud middle linebacker would do to a defense.

Not much without a stud DT, Safety, or CB. No one player will turn our D around. Willis and Ryans were studs their rookie years as ILB's. Didn't help their teams to winning records.

This is why I'm in favor of taking the BDPA at 10 and not taking a LB for "immediate impact."

We have nowhere near the defensive personel the 49ers or Texans have.

We can just agree to disagree. However, i will stand on my position that a true stud middle linebacker makes the players around him better.

I am not arguing that the Saints dont have holes all over the defense, however, of the positions on defense a STUD MLB is the toughest to get a hold of. So if you can nab one in the draft, you do. There are not many Brian Uralachers and Ray Lewis' floating around in free agency.

We supposedly have enough offensive firepower to win if we plug holes in the defense.
Laurinaitis had 18 tackles, 2 catches allowed, and 3 missed tackles. Not a great game, but Malcolm Jenkins got torched by Lafell and if not for that pick in the 4th, had a horrible game. You DO need a good DT in front of a tackling machine like JL, but I can't help but see what Patrick Willis and Demeco Ryand did for their Defenses in the first year.

lol...Jenkins had a horrible game? First off you don't get "burned" when your in a goaline zone based formation. Secondly, other then that he gave up nothing else the rest of the night and LSU by and large threw nowhere near him because of how good his coverage was. He had a very solid game. Do you think CB's must have 3 INT's for TD's to quilify as a good game?

And you proved my point. What exactly did Willis and Ryans do for their defenses? They had great individual stats, but without the other players around them their respective D's were still bottom dwellers and teams were losers. We should take the best defenisve player available because we need stud starters everywhere, not just MLB.

Urlacher wasn't even a MLB coming out of college. He was a Safety. His speed coupled with size is why he is so amazing. Its hard to compare a traditional 4.7ish bigger LB with him.

Does Laurainitis plan to announce he's going into the draft? I haven't heard either way. How does he compare to Dan Conner?

Dan Connor had 136 tackles this year, Laurinaitis had 103. Not even close, DC-40 Dominates.
Dan Connor had 14 TFL, Laurinaitis had 8.5. DC-40 is better in this regard, it is a fact. Look it up.
Dan Connor had 6.5 sacks, Laurinaitis had 5. Last time I checked, 6.5 is more than 5.
Dan Connor had 6 passes broken up, Laurinaitis had 1.
To be fair, Laurinaitis did have 2 Interceptions this year to Dan's 1.

Stats don't lie... one thing about the combine it doesn't show you who the "football players" are... you get to see athletes... the 40 times and bench presses weigh more than heart and football IQ.

Sedrick Ellis at #10 please.

why would you not wanna team this guy up with Grant and Smith, they'll make him better and he will get them less double teams (hopefully) our D-line is supposed to be the strenght of this team....so lets re-affirm that with the drafting of this guy with the 10th pick...like I said, there are 7 rounds, one pick doesnt make a draft, we can get LB and CB help in the 2nd and 3rd.
