So I know we all have our gameday idiosyncrasies - last night I had to change mine. And it worked!
Since I am stuck here away from home in Toronto, I am on the phone during the game a lot, rotating calls among friends and family. But I always have my laptop fired up on the couch and the forums up, gameday threads open. SR.com for Saints and Tigers games and Tiger rant or tigerforums for LSU gamedays.
Last night, I had them both open and my wife - who has come to really, genuinely enjoy football (she's gotten me to the point of asking questions I can't answer about coverages, play calls, players out of position, etc... she'd make a better coach than me - but that's beside the point) - was seated next to me on the couch.
I was disgusted at the opening 10-0 start. Couldn't stand it.
Decided that I wasn't going to read anymore threads. In fact, I put the laptop down and picked up my guitar to help me relax.
LSU started turning it around. In a BIG way. So I kept strumming. My wife kept watching.
Then my wife - who had an early morning of work the next day - decides to go get ready for bed (take off make up, brush teeth, etc...)
And LSU started doing poorly.
But she came in to check the scores - when she did - LSU got the Roughing the Kicker penalty for 15 yards and the ball back. Another time, I called her in to watch the field goal attempt - she came in just in time for the block.
So I figured out that equation that worked - I had to play guitar and Martha had to be watching the game in the living room with me.
She wanted to go to bed.
I wouldn't let her.
I pleaded and begged. So I owe her a lot of favors today - she just called from work complaining how tired she was and reminded me how much I owe her.
Any of y'all change/do anything special to help reverse the bad opening mojo working against the Tigers?
