So I know we all have our gameday idiosyncrasies - last night I had to change mine. And it worked!

Since I am stuck here away from home in Toronto, I am on the phone during the game a lot, rotating calls among friends and family. But I always have my laptop fired up on the couch and the forums up, gameday threads open. SR.com for Saints and Tigers games and Tiger rant or tigerforums for LSU gamedays.

Last night, I had them both open and my wife - who has come to really, genuinely enjoy football (she's gotten me to the point of asking questions I can't answer about coverages, play calls, players out of position, etc... she'd make a better coach than me - but that's beside the point) - was seated next to me on the couch.

I was disgusted at the opening 10-0 start. Couldn't stand it.

Decided that I wasn't going to read anymore threads. In fact, I put the laptop down and picked up my guitar to help me relax.

LSU started turning it around. In a BIG way. So I kept strumming. My wife kept watching.

Then my wife - who had an early morning of work the next day - decides to go get ready for bed (take off make up, brush teeth, etc...)

And LSU started doing poorly.

But she came in to check the scores - when she did - LSU got the Roughing the Kicker penalty for 15 yards and the ball back. Another time, I called her in to watch the field goal attempt - she came in just in time for the block.

So I figured out that equation that worked - I had to play guitar and Martha had to be watching the game in the living room with me.

She wanted to go to bed.

I wouldn't let her.

I pleaded and begged. So I owe her a lot of favors today - she just called from work complaining how tired she was and reminded me how much I owe her.

Any of y'all change/do anything special to help reverse the bad opening mojo working against the Tigers?

After LSU went down 10-0 my 3 and 1 year old daughters pulled out all of the purple beads (well mainly the 3 year old the 1 year old just drooled and screamed HI! about 47 times in a row) from their Mardi Gras bead bucket and put them around my neck.

31 unanswered points followed.

Your welcome.

I know that LSU HAS to be a great team.

They won despite the fact that I actually recorded the game! :scared:

:hihi:

I usually have some gear on and my LSU blanket drapped over the back of the futon, but I couldn't find it in time for the kickoff. After the kickoff, I can't change anything, so I went woobieless the whole game. I felt a bit uneasy, but it was ok. I wasn't phased by the 10 - 0 start because it was Big 10 afterall :)hihi:).

As mentioned on WWL's pregame show, Monday, January 7 was the third anniversary of Buddy D's passing.

Given his fondness for gambling of all sorts and our local teams, I get the feeling that God gave him whatever he wanted just to get a few moments of peace and quiet. Not only did LSU win, they covered.

Buddy once said that his idea of heaven was having all of the football games on television at the same time in the same place. Apparently, Buddy thought that heaven resembled a Fox & Hound.

Now if he could get the "Big Guy" to push us to a Super Bowl win...

My Dad gave me an LSU jersey that someone gave him and he never wore. I'm not a jersey wearing person, but I decided to wear it during the game anyway. I took it off at 10-0 and just before Jean-Francois blocked the FG. That jersey will hang in the closet indefinitely. It's a #25 jersey, but I don't know if there is any significance to that number.

All I had to do was watch the game.
I was in rehearsal when the game began, but we stopped at 7:30. By then, Kellye had already called to tell me it was 7-0. By the time we got from the rehearsal space to the spot where we all watched the game, it was 10-0, tOSU. We got in and got the TV on just as LSU started the long drive resulting in the first touchdown. I missed the moment when tOSU scored to go to 17 because the pizza had arrived and we were getting it inside and set up. Went back to watch and the rest of the half was fine.
It was all good in the second half - except for the moment when I left the room to call a friend in Houston (so I could hear him on the phone). As we were yacking about how well the game was going, Jenkins got the INT and tOSU scored. We hung up and I went back into the room to watch. LSU dominated the rest of the way (excusing the "empty net goal" the mostly back-ups on defense allowed with less than 2 minutes left). Case closed.

Barbe High! Represent :ezbill:

I saw some Ohio State fans offering reasons for the loss, including:

One father who finally had to change his baby's diaper at 10-0 and that caused the OSU loss.

Another wore the wrong jersey.

Yet another let his wife give their son a bath.

Still another blamed his son who refused to wear his "scarlet jersey" and whined to wear his "lizard shirt" on gameday.

It interests me what others do - makes me feel less bizarre in my own superstitions
