Among many of the things the Patriots get slammed for, is the "running up of the score"

When asked about this, Patriots players, coaches, and fans, more or less all say the same thing - "Don't like it? Stop us. We play the game til the end". That's basically the gists of their belief this year.

Well, turns out the Patriots didn't always feel that way.

2002 quote from Teddy Bruschi, about the Steelers in a 30-7 Pats victory where the Steelers were still trying to score at the end of the game:

“I did have some respect for that team, but after what they pulled on that last drive, it’s totally lost now" Bruschi said. “You’re getting beat….just accept it with class. I know we would have if the tables were turned. But they’re out there calling timeouts, trying to get extra yards, padding their stats”

I would say that unless you have a quote from Bruschi saying "Don't like it? Stop us." then you are just pulling at straws.

I can't ever remember Bruschi saying "if you don't like it, stop us" or any of the coaches. I have heard Belichick say a few times that he would rather give the opposing team the opportunity to stop them on 4th down than kick the field goal and get the sure 3 points and I've heard Brady say that the opposing defenses dont stop trying to sack him so why should they stop trying to score, and that it's the offenses job to score.

For the record, I DO believe that you shouldn't stop trying to score just because. Thus the reason for "harmless" poking fun.

I had no issues with the running up of the score. I just thought the quote was funny.

That was an awesome game by the way. First game at Gillette after the Steelers had run their mouths all offseason about how they were the better team in 01, so they go in there and get killed and the whole crowd starts chanting "we are the champions" at them. I wish the crowds still got up for regular season games like that.

If the Jags offense can keep Brady and Moss off the field I think they have a real chance to win. I like the Jags to upset the Pats on Sunday. Im gonna bet 5 bucks on that game. Payout is 20 to 1 so its a hundred bucks if Jax wins.

go jaguars!

I mean with a payout like that sure take a shot, are you getting the 13 points? I hope so because really there's no way Jacksonville wins this game, it won't even be close IMO.

The Jags can win this game. The key to beating the Patriots is pounding the ball down theor throats, and if any team can, it's Jacksonville. Fred Taylor will be so hyped up for this game cause he made his first pro bowl of his career. I predict the Jags win 24-17.
