Major Russian victory?

I've seen some very liberal use of the word "encircled". To me it only means that supply routes are cut off on all sides. But I've heard people using it when they only mean a half circle (some Indian television channels were particularly guilty of this). If you allow this very liberal use, then the tip Donbas salient, around Sieverodonetsk, would qualify. That is the place where repeated river crossing attempts by Russia were repelled with high casualties. There has been very miminal progress by Russia over the past few weeks, the front is pretty stable and supply lines are pretty secure for Ukraine.

It's the post so who knows if it really happened but seems plausible.

"I can punch you in the face anytime I want but I'm going to move my fist closer to your face."

It's funny that Putin thinks this demonstrates power. He can nuke Finland any time he wants, capability to do it isn't the issue - so what does demonstrating capability do? Nothing.

Yeah, just repeat of tactics from the Cold War days.

The thing I'm most jealous of is the young leadership they have. Our country is ran by ancient career politicians with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel.

Us and Russia have that in common. Ironic that both countries seem to be the only countries nostalgic for the Cold War era.
