Sounds far fetched but they both have similar stories. In 2020 in Detroit Stafford was viewed as being past his peak. He had struggled his last couple of years in Detroit. Like Winston he came from a dysfunctional franchise.

We all saw what happened with Stafford last year. Finally, for the first time in.many years he was surrounded with weapons and for first time ever enjoyed a good offensive mind that knew how to use him. Stafford became one of the bedt QBs in the league.

Jump forward to this year with Winston. He is a young strong armed Qb those posseses a lot of talent. He know finds himself surrounded with a ton of offensive play makers and has a chance to play a full season with perhaps one of the best offensive coordinators in Carmichael.

This year Winston has a chance to make a major jump and become one of the best QBs

Don't know, but I think he's got more potential than people think and I think he has the drive to change the narrative about him. Even with an almost 5:1 TD-to-INT ratio last season, people still went on and on about his 2019 season in Tampa. Saints fans included.

I would say the league doesn't think so. Stafford commanded 2 first round picks. Jameis could've been had for no compensation but ended up taking another low-end short-term deal from us.
I think he means in gaining a championship and the ever so important “respect”. Let’s face it, there have been many great QBs, that failed to get the respect that they deserve though

And I'll say this, this is the thing that kills me about all of the Anti WInston talk...the dude is still young in terms of being a QB, if he gets this right, he could be the guy for the next 10 years. Not sure why everyone was in a rush to run him out of town...for what Sam Howell, Carson Strong?!?!?! c'aint believe some of the names that were being floated pre draft.

Strong was a UDFA. LOL

I still think the only reason he didn't sign elsewhere was that he wanted to come back here and was in no hurry because of the rehab. If you go look at the interceptions for him and Brees, they are almost the same. Early in Drew's Saints career, he was throwing a lot of picks. Winston will be alright.

Coming from a dysfunctional Tampa franchise (yeah, I said it. Once Brady leaves, they’ll return to that status) I can see him wanting to stay with the Saints for stability.
