Exercise Machines (1 Viewer)

The best machine is the one that you will use the most and not hang clothes on it. If you're not sure you want to sink big bucks, then jogging, push ups, sit ups and the $ 99 Gazelle works. If you have the money to get a Precor, they are great. But if you sink $ 4k into something you don't use, then it's a problem.

i am thinking of buying a bowflex. i run about 2-3 miles a night and work out with dumbells.
does anyone have any feedback on any of the bowflex models

Bowflex is very hard to get use to if you have lifted free weights in the past. I even use machines once in awhile and found the bowflex very uncomfortable. Lifting weights really is the best bet of burning calories per many health journals. Long distance running does nothing but hurt the knees. I say hit the weights 3 times a week with 12-15 reps and without little rest in between sets. If that does not work add a regiment of shuttle runs or just sprinting.

I could never get used to the Bowflex after working out at the gym.

Just feels weird... not saying it doesn't work.

If I had not been used to weights at a gym, it might've done the trick for me.

i heard a fitness\health person make that statement i found it to be very wise (may have bee Covert Bailey) he said it when talking about swimming being the best exercise in response to a question. - he said "the best exercise is one that you will do with regularity, if you dont like to swim and dont do it, it wont help you"

anyone ever try those thread climbers, the ones they say is like walking in sand - maybe bowflex or norditrac, you see the ads on tv.

I've got one that I use regularly. Yes, it is much different than free weights. Just depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

I'm not trying to have big biceps with no coordination like most high-school boys I see nowadays - I'm trying to stay fit. I have the older XLT version, and it works great. You don't need the leg attachment though - just more to spend.
