Did LSU dodge a bullet? (1 Viewer)

I guess the War Eagles really don't care. This is gonna be fun! :hihi:
If LSU has a poor showing this year they might have dodged a bullet only to be taken out 100 million dollar missle that is Brian Kelly

Dude's got 2 losing seasons in 30+ years of head coaching, built 3 programs to national prominence, including the near impossible resurrection of a school with every disadvantage you can think of in todays college football world and people seriously think it was a bad hire?

What am I missing?

He did well but It wasn't in the SEC where he did this. Cincinnati played subpar schedule, Notre Dame usually always lost to highly ranked teams.

That is all true, and still yet he has only had 2 losing seasons in 30+ years as a head coach. He played a subpar schedule at Cincinnati, but he also played with subpar talent because that's what Cincy attracts. Same goes for Grand Valley State. He got beat by Bama in the CFP because Bama has almost twice as much professional talent than ND. ND was almost never the most talented team in the field. Same guy beat a more talented LSU team in bowl games, twice so this idea that he always loses to highly ranked teams is BS.

Now that he's at LSU, lack of talent will soon not be his issue. In fact, an argument could be made that his current team at LSU is the most talented he's ever coached. We see guys like Miles and Orgeron win titles at LSU and yet somehow people think that Kelly isn't going to win at LSU simply defies logic.

The only reason we lost to FSU was that they had a warmup game and we didn't.

I'm not saying that I am happy with the product yet, but imagine what we would have without Kelly. The only reason we are fielding a team that is capable of a winning record is because Kelly worked the transfer portal like no coach ever has. For whatever reason, our last 2 coaches couldn't recruit for the offensive line to save their lives and even the DLines weren't what we were used to. You can't compete for the division in the SEC without good lines....consider our title year with Burrow to be the exception that proved the rule
