The "Who's-drunk-on-a-weeknight" thread...and is "go-cups" a New Olreans thing? (1 Viewer)

Go-Cups are most definitely an only-in-New-Orleans phenomenon; in no other city will they no what you're talking about when you ask for one... Also, other cities apparently don't have drive-thru daquiri shops?? :dunno:

It's not legal here to do the "go-cup" thing. Otherwise the closest thing we have here is called a "set-up" cup.

This coming from the state that brought the drive thru beer barns to the world.......

Two bottles of Newcastle tonight, and a couple slices of king cake.
They go surprisingly well together.

Newcastle goes good with everything. when I was younger we would have keg parties. we would use those big red plastic dixie cups so we called it getting a dixie. after three or four dixies you just drink off the keg hose.

Lafayette has both. I would imagine go-cups are a New Orleans invention, but Lafayette only recently banned glass bottles outside so we're just making the switch.

go cups definitely originated here.

evanston, illinois has delivery beer services, imagine being at a party

partier: yo, who's in the big ugly van pulling up?
host: not who, what. that's the keg man

I drank some sure enough hobo beer tonight. Something called "Steel Reserve" that my buddy had. Why call it hobo beer? Cuz it cost barely over a buck for a 40, tastes like liquid poo, but will get you drunk QUICK. I had one 40 and had a little buzz like I normally get from 8-10 beers.

Three go-cups of Vendange Chardonnet and two Restorations.

Buzzed, but can still work tomorrow.

Do other cities call 'em go-cups? Cuz in Texas, people looked at me crazy-like.

After almost getting arrested twice, I just put what ever drink I have in my back pocket and walk out.

Bourbon Street last night...I got home at 5:30 this morning...

Alexandria has both, i ued to bring my beer\drink i was drininking when i walked in the bar with me - so we had "go cups" and "in cups"

the daiquiri places here also serve mixed drinks via the drive thru

i know in other places ive been, including NY city, DFW etc they stop selling hard liquor at midnight other than in a bar- and they only sell hard liquor in state run liquor stores - where as in some places in Louisiana you can go into a 7-11 or grocery store at 1:45 am and buy fifth Alexandria being one of them, all night long in some cities.

it also used to be the law here that you could go into a bar if you are under 21 but at least 18, and it was legal for them to sell you drinks but illegal for you to buy it - so if you get drunk in a bar and under 21 it was your fault, not the bar for serving you
