I know, I know...DEFENSE. I think we can address that mostly in FA and in later rounds. We need help in the return game, and as a WR this guy could be the next Steve Smith. Think of a four WR set with Colston, Meachem (yes, I still like him and will bet he is starting most of the year next season), Jackson and Bush. Explosive is an understatement. So who's with me?

you still win the battles in the trenches .... and we havent the blocking to go out with 3-4 receivers in every down.

when offense , than : OL please.

I'm not opposed to the idea, man. I'm with you. If we take care of business on D in free agency, which I think we will, I'm completely ok with taking BPA. If it's Desean Jackson, so be it.:9:

A lot of fans feel that our offense is set. Well as good as the offense was, truth be told it could have been better. We had the second most dropped passes in the entire league. If we had real talent out there like Meachem and Jackson I doubt we have that horrible stat, and that probably was worth a couple more wins.

If we can pick up Corey Williams, Marcus Trufant or Drayton Florence in FA than I'm all for it. We can pick up a good LB in the second round.

BINGO!!! :plus-un2: :plus-un2: :plus-un2:

Man if we can do something crazy like trade a 4th for Vilma... sign one of those CBs, or even a guy like Randall Gay... sign Corey Williams or a guy like randy Starks... man DeSean jackson as the 3rd WR/KR/PR... our offense would be even scarier...

right. like we have done the past....i dont know say eight years? it doesnt work and it hasnt worked for us.

players are graded as first and second round talent for a reason. because they are good. you want a good defense you HAVE to dedicate quality high round draft picks for them or dole out huge amounts of cash in FA. and even that alone wont get you a good defense.

and there is no way in hell i would draft a guy because he is a good special teams player in the first round. we are ok without a ted ginn jr on this roster.

defense is what we need to focus on and some oline help in rounds 2 or 3 and later depending on who is available.

so you wanna spend our top 10 pick to improve the return game?

as bad as we need linebacker and dline help people love to draft offense, I dont get it? we scream at the tv about how bad the d is and as soon as the draft comes people are hoping for the next offensive weapon?....but we havent had a pro bowl linebacker since...Fields or was it Mitchell? and a pro bowl dt since Glover....but lets get Jackson to help with punt returns?

Jonathan Sullivan was graded a first round talent too.:covri:

I think it would be foolish for the team to handcuff itself to the idea of drafting defense, without regard to who's available. That's how you end up reaching for players that shouldn't be drafted as high as they are. It seems like when we draft the best player available, we end up doing much better in the draft(Deuce, Reggie, Will Smith, Jammal Brown) Jury's still out on Meach. If the BPA is a defensive player, then I'm all for it.

The reason that free agency hasn't worked is that the front office would rather try to get guys like Brian Simmons instead of Adalius Thomas. It's that simple. The front office needs to go after top talent with the same zeal that they went after Drew Brees.

And ask Chicago how many wins a good special teams returner is worth. Without Hester they win 3 games this year. There's no way to expect those kind of results from anyone else, but if we had at least 2 special teams touchdowns this year, who knows how that might have affected games. Besides that, Jackson is a very good receiver as well.

i couldnt agree with you more as much as i like jackson i would go into complete shock to see us take him with the 10th pick. we need an infusion of young defensive talent on our team and it starts with pick 10th hell im not even that high on kenny p. but i would MUCH rather hear kenny's name called the deSean's no matter what we do in free agency.

We had the second most dropped passes in the entire league.

I want to make one point about dropped passes and leading the league in dropped passes. In evaluating this you must take into consideration that the Saints led the league in pass attempts so it means that we had more opportunity to drop passes.

I would like to see what the percentage is. Meaning: If I throw the ball 100 times and have 10 drops, that's 10%. If you throw the ball 50 times and have 8 drops, you might have less drops but you drop more balls per opportunity then I did.

All this stuff is in direct relation to attempts. If I throw 15 interceptions and you throw 10 but I had twice as many attempts, I'll still take the 15 even though it's a higher number. Conversley, If I have 1500 yards rushing but it took me 500 attempts to get there and you had 1200 on 280 attempts. Who shakes out as the better RB? Let me see that average.

A Wide reciever core just like Roy Williams, Mike Williams, and Charles Rogers....I cant even imagine.

it all looks really good on paper but look at the playoff teams and the non playoff teams and tell me what you see. teams like jax, ne, sd, ind, gb and even ny all have a balance of talent on both sides of the ball. we dont have that balance our offence is loaded with YOUNG talent, guys like meach, bush, colsten, brees, are all in their 20's. the defense is full of older guys that would be second or third stringers on most GOOD teams. i think it would be foolish to not go into this draft thinking defensive. sometimes you just gotta try to fix whats broken, and hope it works.

DeSean Jackson=Ted Ginn Jr.

I'd say that's a favorable comparison. Did you watch any Dolphins games this year? I did, as my roomate is a huge Phins fan. When thrown to, Ted Ginn made his catches. He's going to be an excellent receiver. The problem in Miami is that they have inept QBs. Also he returned a kickoff for a TD and had another return TD called back for holding. More than any of our return men can say.
