Obama to open up on Bill's "dissembling" (1 Viewer)

It's a rough situation for Obama. Bill is a hero to the Democrats. Taking him on directly is a dangerous game. If I were Obama I would have my supporters take him on.Let someone else burn political capital challenging Bill.

It's definitely risky but I think that Obama pretty much has to be willing to take Bill on directly if he wants to win.

He wants Bill's job as "face of the Democrat party" for one thing and Bill is the husband of his chief rival and is actively helping her campaign.

It will take a delicate touch in some respects, no doubt, but if he wants to be the nominee he has to be willing to come out and say that Bill is full of BS, if that's what he believes.

If Obama really wants to win the nomination he needs to first focus on praising Ronald Reagan. That may help in the summer, but it ain;t that popular amongst Democratic primary voters.

He has to take on the President because the President has been making all kinds of accusations. Most of them have been half-truths, to put it mildly. It's a bad situation for Obama, but hopefully he sets the tone here rather than seeming reactionary. It's pretty apparent that Hillary has been in control since immediately after Iowa and that's not going to work if Obama wants to win.

If Bill Clinton can transform Obama into having an "angry black man" persona, that will scare off some older white affluent liberals who consitute part of Obama's base. The hope in the clinton camp is that under Obama's soothing rhetoric is a Jackson or Sharpton waiting to get out.

As posted above, Obama cannot engage a tag team alone. The betting is the black vote will materialize anyway in the fall for Clinton. Obama will be 58 after two Hillary terms, when he will go up against Chelsea, who will be ready to lead for change. She will face Jeb's son George Bush, who his grandfather once called "the little brown one". The twin dynasties continue.

Oh, the humanity! :covri:

Gee - Bill taking liberties with the truth == never would have seen that coming --

Cue Jerry Garcia...

Oh, many, many years ago
When I was twenty-three
I was married to a widow
Who was pretty as can be
This widow had a grown-up daughter
Who had hair of red
My father fell in love with her
And soon the two were wed

This made my dad my son-in-law
And changed my very life
For my daughter was my mother
'Cause she was my father's wife
To complicate the matter
Though it really brought me joy
I soon became the father
Of a bouncing baby boy

This little baby then became
A brother-in-law to Dad
And so became my uncle
Though it made me very sad
For if he was my uncle
Then that also made him brother
Of the widow's grown-up daughter
WHo of course is my step-mother

Chorus
I'm my own grandpa
I'm my own grandpa
It sounds funny I know
But it really is so
Oh, I'm my own grandpa

The latest rumor is that Hillary is writing off SC. That implies the 2008 race will be fought everywhere else, which perhaps isn't surprising. Clinton can get the states Kerry won in 2004, add NM or Ohio, and we get the co-Presidency Bill evoked in 1991.

If you get Hillary or Barack v. McCain/Romney/Giulliani then the 2008 map will be very close to the 1988 map.

we could even have ron paul running as a Libertarian.

The national and Super tuesday polls don't have Clinton or McCain quite "in the bag", but it's close. I doubt Giuliani will persist past then. Obama beat everyone now, and Hillary loses to mCCain. McCain, like him or not, is the most electable Republican.

MLK's legacy is in the way of a Clinton victory. That must stop. I wonder what the Clintons would have done with a pre-martyred King. I suppose the FBI files would have been VERY USEFUL to send the Hildebeest 666 into the Oval Office. The files were in the possession of the WH during the Clinton term, and intimidation is the Clinton coin of the realm.
