whatever happend to sedrick hodge and courtney watson ? (1 Viewer)

By memory, after leaving the saints Sedrick Hodge was signed by the dolphins, were he did the same as with the saints: nothing. Courtney Watson was traded to New England for a tight end (Euhus?) and was released almost immediately.

I think someone on this forum correctly described that trade with the patriots as "I'll give you my trash for your garbage."

It's painful to realize that our old starting LBs were actually worse than our current starting LBs.

wasnt watson decent as a rookie mlb, but got hurt and never quite came back as well?

Wasn't our starting LB corp a few years ago... Sedrick Hodge, Courtney Watson, and Colby Bockwoldt?

GAWD!!! That's PATHETIC!

Watson was a shame. He showed a lot of promise his rookie year, don't know what quite happened after that.

There were rumors of weight issues, drug and alcohol abuse, motivation.

I still say a lot of our troubles with young guys not developing was Jim Haslett and his groupe of coaches. I can't remember one significant player that was drafted (minus Deuce) that actually lived up or developed into a good player.

I mean there were too many players that just never deveoped; Michael Hawthorne, Sedrick Hodge, Kenny Smith, Onome Ojo, James Allen, Keyou Craver, Mel Mitchel, Johathan Sullivan, Cie Grant, Courtney Watson, Alfred Fincher, Adrian McPherson. The only real late round pick of Hasletts team that exceeded expectations was Mike Karney (they did know how to pick FB's).

You look how long that list is of players that just didn't pan out compared to the players that actually did. Even then most of the "good" picks only happened in the early rounds. I still believe, had guys like Watson, James Allen, Sedrick Hodge, Mel Mitchel, etc been drafted by a team like New England things may have been different for them.

I believe Courtney Watson flaming out had a lot to do with alcohol.

and character concerns .... he was arrogant and to fine to play ST as i remember.

starting LBs were : Bockwoldt, Hodge , Watson

later it was terrence melton , mckinnon and bockwoldt

with tj. slaughter in the mix.... pretty bad all and all but mckinnon was pretty decent.

oh yes and james allen was on IR again

drunk and stoned... fine if you're playing the blues but crappy for a football player in the NFL... especially in NOLA.

James Allen looked like he might be a servicable role player but ... well you know
