With the Saint's luck this year I'd guess Taysom will eventually get a another shot at QB1, either due to injury or poor play. If he doesn't I could see his agent requesting a legitimate shot to at least be QB2 next year to keep him happy. If he doesn't get another QB1 start will the Saints let him chase his dream? Would he want to continue as a Saint with so few snaps?

I believe he's under contract and I don't know if any other team would be willing to take on his unusual contract. So, I think he'll be a Saint until we cut him

I could see him being part of a Sean Payton trade. Give him to the only person that knows how to use him properly and hopefully sweeten the pot for us. Carmichael has been an embarrassment and I'm not sure the next OC will be any better.

Big yikes that he hasn't been given an acceptable number of opportunities in those other games given how he produces and what we have had available at skill positions otherwise.

Yep that's my point. He's not being given the opportunities here. Payton knows how to use him better than anyone, especially the incompetent duo of Carmichael and Allen.

“I texted Mickey yesterday — he’s my closest friend — and I said, ‘Hey, if you’re uncomfortable with that $10 million salary, let me know in a year or two, and I’ll take it off your hands.,’ ” Payton told Colin Cowherd, per YouTube video.

Admittedly, Payton likely said this in a more tongue-in-cheek fashion, but the scenario isn’t that unrealistic. Hill signed a four-year, $40 million contract in 2021 that began in the 2022-23 season. But New Orleans has a potential out after the 2023-24 season, according to Spotrac, and in the following three years, Hill will not receive guaranteed money, according to Over The Cap.

Far be it from me to poop on people's dreams, but you have to figure Taysom knows the ship has sailed on him being a QB1 in the NFL right?

I think time has also shown that he's been more of a difference maker for the team when he's put in situations where he's able to use his athleticism to physically beat defenders.

Also, you can't have your backup QB out there running in between tackles, sprinting down the field on kick-offs and taking hits. Putting your QB2 in high risk injury situations is effectively having no backup plan if your starting QB goes out with an injury and it completely takes away Taysom's joker role in your game plan.

SP was dead serious when he made that comment. Look, everyone on here knows that I’m in the Top 3 in the biggest Taysom fanboys group. We have a “one of a kind” player on our team. This dude just wants to be out there making plays. He leaves it all out there and he is a prime example of what a team player is. How in the world are we not utilizing this dude at nausea is beyond me? If I were a first time HC, who is stinking up the joint, I would have Taysom out there for 80% of the snaps minimum. I wouldn’t even care where he’s lining up. Just get the guy out there. One day DA will wake up, with no more chances of being a HC, and he will look back at the decisions he made, that caused his failures. One of which will be not using one of his greatest assets. SP isn’t stupid. He knows that even if TH7 gets you 1 or 2 much needed first downs, that could be the difference of a ball game. Football is a game of inches. That statement rings true more often than not. Every third down I’d encounter, he would be out there in the huddle…..I’d take my chances with Taysom.

Hill is an odd case. Sometimes you want him to play more. Sometimes you wish the offense should run through him at certain parts of the game. But once you get that, he cant hold up. It appears as though he should be getting more snaps/touches, but his durability just isnt there. Its definitely a balancing act.

I think theres been some acceptance that Hill is a spot duty, X amount of snaps per game type of guy. He ended every college season on IR. He has been hurt every NFL season that he started getting more snaps. Every time he gets an increased workload, he gets hurt. Add to that he is about to be 32, where durability starts tailing off and youre left with a guy you have to manage more that just about anyone else.

The market is certainly trending towards dual-threat QBs like TH (Allen, Jackson, Hurts, Fields) but he had a decent shot and didn't make a ton of noise around it. He's also getting older so I'm not sure he's got a lot of opportunities left as QB1.

Either way, I'd take TH at 10M/year without thinking twice, no matter which position he's playing. That's a great player right there even if he's not used as QB1
