“But I’ll tell you what’s interesting about (the Saints), I don’t know that it was reported at the time but I can say it now,” Schrager began. He continued, chuckling, “Sean Payton popped in because he had something to do in New Orleans, and like gave them a pep talk that week, they won 24-nothing. And then Sean Payton leaves, and it’s like, maybe the worst thing he could have done was give them a taste of the Sean Payton magic. Because they won 24-nothing once he lit a fire under their arses, he called out the defense, then he goes back to L.A. where he’s living in Manhattan Beach or wherever, they’re back to not being able to stop or score any points, you know?”

Not surprising. Miss that guy. We now have our worst start since preceding Sean and Drew.

I like that we are not playing well, because the Saints Organization can see the mistake they made hiring DA, even though they're intentions were good as he is a part of the Payton tree and a trusted staff member he is just not cut out to lead a franchise as a HC, so hopefully this is a one and done experiment.

This is still Payton’s team and that’s a challenge for Allen. People have talked about the loss of CJGJ being a letdown but now that I’m not clouded by optimism, I see that losing a coach like Payton took a lot of wind out of the sails of this team. Really it doesn’t seem like a surprise that they look flat and unmotivated. As much as fans hated Payton leaving, consider the effect it had on the players.
