PFT: Pursuit of Sean Payton looms, if it hasn’t already started (1 Viewer)

What I found interesting about this article is the notion that the Saints can argue they have "perpetual" rights to Payton because his contract "tolls" - anyone else heard that before?

I had heard it early, but hadn’t been able to get concrete answers anywhere. It would make sense.

If Sean wants to coach next year, the price should be a 1st and 2nd in 2023, a 1st and 3rd in 2024, or a good player instead of the 2nd or 3rd round picks. The 2 1sts should not be negotiable. If no team wants to pay that, Sean stays on Fox.

The Saints hold all the cards. Make the other team ante up.
Exactly.

Due to the “deals” Mickey Loomis has made in the very recent past I have zero confidence that he will get much of anything in exchange for Payton’s rights. There are rumors from people supposedly close to Payton claiming he (Payton) has a handshake agreement with Loomis to let him sign elsewhere for a single day two draft pick.

The most recent I have heard is that the "tolling" could be challenged in court. I believe it was one of the first articles in this or another Sean Payton thread.

I love when people post this type of foolishness. So we cut Michael Thomas and take his enormous hit to our cap. Please elaborate who replaces him who? who? your guy Treylon Burks 20rec 264yds 0TDs. SMH. Not to mention when MT13 is healthy he proved this year he is still one of the best.

Fire the medical staff and lets reset the whole team BTW Terron Armstead 10 Games to 10 Starts this season....interesting?
Post June 1st cut… that comes straight from both Nick Underhill and Mike Triplett who agree there’s really no way Michael Thomas stays on this team next season.

Tweet at them about their “foolishness”… I’m sure you know more than those two. 🤦‍♂️

Did they agree there was no way or did they say "He could be cut" cuz ion member that

Hope not. A quitter doesn’t deserve to come back to the same job.
LOL. He’s one of the top 2-3 coaches of the last decade-plus who got burned out in the same job.

We should be praying to find another “quitter” like that.

If MT comes back next year and catches a pass, watch 60,000 fans erupt in support, and about 20 keyboard warriors groan.

Fleeting support until he gets injured again. We all wish for the best for every player and then there’s reality of Father Time on a WR that’s been out for 2+ seasons now. Even without another injury, he’d have to play less reps and monitor his health with now coming back from such a long period and be the #2 behind Olave.
