Analysis Olave's 52-yard TD - How he beat Jalen Ramsey (1 Viewer)

It will be interesting to see what pick the Eagles wind up with...then see if Olave was worth it. So far he is definitely worth a 10-15 1st round pick imo. Bordering top 10

Once MT gets healthy, we will have 2 great WRs. Just wish MT would get out of his injury bug.

I don't believe Jarvis Landry is what he used to be, but he was great and just like Colston in year 9, he's a beast. When those 3 are all on the field together, you'd better have a back end like we do when we have all of our guys on the field.

Which is another point entirely, but still valid.

The Eagles trade had very little to do with the trade to get Olave. We had the 18th pick . We could have easily made a deal with Washington to trade up. Might have cost a bit more but we would have probably still done the deal. The Eagles deal got us Penning and cost us a bit less to get Olave

There’s no way to know that. We used the pick we got from the Eagles to move up and take Olave.

I was just pleased to see Olave catch a pass and not immediately go to the turf.
They even threw him a quick WR screen! I couldn’t believe it! I thought Olave was just going to catch that and instantly go down or get out of bounds, but he actually tried to get some tough yards!!! It really surprised me!
FTR… I just listened to the most recent NO.football podcast that came out today or yesterday…

…and Underhill said himself that the one criticism he has towards Olave, after Trip and the other guy were fawning over him, was that he lacks YAC ability.

He’s a catch and go down guy… after Nick said it, they joked for a minute about how small he is, etc…

But the fact remains… Olave has great hands, runs great routes and gets open, but unless he catches a ball in the end zone or free and clear of defenders he’s likely going to just go down and take the catch. That’s not necessarily a bad thing…

…but to me, it’s not #1 WR material.

He could be a GREAT #2 though.

It's literally one criticism. His game is pretty pristine otherwise, especially at such a young age. Did you ever watch Marvin Harrison play? His game literally involved zero YAC, and he was WR1 for his entire career and is currently wearing a golden jacket.

Olave will have a good to great career even with average QB play. He'll have a special career if we find ourselves a franchise QB.

Don’t pull a hammy with that reach

Of course there is. We traded #16 a 3rd and a 4th for Olave. We had #18 had we not made the Eagles trade we probably would have had to give #18 and 2 3rd rd picks which we would have had if we didn't make the Eagles trade the eagles trade is much more about Penning than Olave

Ok… I’ll take the W with Underhill seeing the same thing I see, and “Saint Spud” disagreeing.

Good luck in your bubble
I listened to the pod, too. At no point did he say Olave isn’t a number-1 WR. That’s your reach.

Also…this thread and others have talked about the Torry Holt comparison. Holt was the Rams number-1 WR ahead of Isaac Bruce by his 2nd year (check the numbers).

You don’t know that Washington would have been willing to go back to 18. Impossible to know.

I can say with confidence they would have. @16 they took Dotson a WR , next pick was the Chargers who didn't need a WR. They took Johnson an O lineman. Then @ 18 ( our old pick ) the Titans took Burks a pick they traded the Eagles for. So if we didn't make the Eagles trade we would have still had 18 and they would have gotten Dotson @ 18. Even if Philly kept 16 they were not looking for a WR because they traded for Brown . So I can say with confidence that If we would have offered Wash. 18 and 2 3rd rd picks the deal would have been made
