PFT: Pursuit of Sean Payton looms, if it hasn’t already started (1 Viewer)

San Diego has better weather than New Orleans?
Well, he would not have to worry about being displaced twice in 17 years by hurricanes. I guess California could fall into the ocean due to an earthquake but I think SP is ok with that risk.

Well that would be our best HC joining forces with our best DC. I'm down.

I believe we already have pieces to switch to a 3-4. Some think Dav is better suited in a 3-4. Baun is a 3-4 OLB and IIRC, Ellis is too. Turner has played DT/DE so he can probably play DE Inna 3-4 as well.

I lived in San Diego, and unless you enjoy hurricanes, stifling humidity, and frequent raining…absolutely. San Diego has the smallest deviation from season to season of anywhere in the world. It’s predictable 70-85 degrees year around. It’s as if you are indoors with climate control. It’s NOT good for change of season, but I wouldn’t say that New Orleans is either.

I think people really need to look at the reality of an SP comeback to the Saints as being a real one. It's sort of lining up as such, at least.

SP has already been linked to the Saints. If the Saints bring back SP, DA's almost certainly gone. I don't think they'd promote Neilson or Kris after this season's performance. So, open HC and DC. PC could step down as OC and go back to being an assistant to Payton (or just straight up leave.). While the Chargers may be in play, I don't think they're going to let go of their entire staff for Payton's choices. Especially with the playoffs well in their sights. The Cardinals aren't in play, at least at this point. So, the Rams? They're worse off than the Saints are. I'm hardly getting my hopes up, and really expecting another dark horse to pop up, but it's hard to deny that the dots are indeed starting to line up.

I’m afraid that whichever team is interested in CSP may poach Ireland to attract CSP

Has Sean said on record he'd like to come back to NOLA?
I'm skeptical. I think he's only open to coaching a handful of teams and the Saints aren't one of them

This is him saying yeah your current coach might let you sneak into the playoffs but with me you're in the conversation for a Super Bowl.

He's trying to broaden his appeal so a team like the Chargers or even Cowboys would get rid of a head coach with a winning record for him. He's a master at playing the game and making sure he stays in the headlines. That's all Duncan's piece was, keeping his name in the headlines.

He’s not coming back, fam. But with a DC like that, and probably Jeff Ireland, that’s easily worth more than one first at least.
