Without Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis record is 32-44 right now (1 Viewer)

Dude has made some egregious decisions, particularly last offseason that will cost this team for many years. He didn’t build a real QB transition plan when they knew Brees was getting close to retirement. He keeps saddling the team with these terrible cap situations year after year, and he keeps getting made to look like a fool by the Eagles GM with some truly horrendous trades. Dudes ultimately culpable for the state of the team and needs to go along with the coaching staff.

So a GMs record without a hall of fame head coach is bad. Nothing to see here. It's only an issue if he doesn't fire Allen.
Really? Well I see a whole lot of empty suit w/ Loomis.

1.) The Watson fiasco, he dragged Ms Gayle into meeting w/ a player w/ 24 sexual misconduct allegations.

2.) Loomis lets Williams go, brings in Mathew/Maye to play safety. Then trade away Ceddy, who now plays safety w/ Philly w/ 6 INTs 8 PBU 1 sack. With all the musical chairs BS w/ safeties, we end up with not the best safety on a one yr deal. It is like stepping over a C note, to pick up a Quarter.

3.) Loomis sold out DA in his 1st year, with all this "win now" and "all in" playoff BS.

4.) Why does Loomis get the credit for Sean and Ireland's work? Loomis never picked the talent. I have never recalled, a time when any player, was a player Loomis stood on the table for. I can't recall him taking credit for any drafted players. Good or bad picks. Sure he was in the room, and Sean would say we did this or that, but you knew it was Sean's deal, w/ Ireland's homework.

5.) Why does Loomis get a pass, for not finding a legit QB over the last 3 yrs?

Didn’t Randy Mueller hire Jim Haslett?
And I believe Loomis took over while Haslett was still HC . Just going by WWL radio said tonight. They certainly were not giving him a free pass either. Take SP out of equation and Loomis is not good. Don’t want to count the Haslett era he is 4 - 8 with no future QB, no 1st round pick next season. Good luck with that.

That's not fair to Loomis, Haslett wasn't his guy and you can't take away his guy from the equation to make him look bad

Mueller got axed after the 01’ season. Benson claimed it was due Mueller not consulting him on the Ricky Williams trade but it’s been speculated that he was fired for non-football reasons.

So technically Loomis became full GM in 02’ with an inherited coach.

He hired Payton. That earns him a pass on Allen in my book. But what he does going forward is going to determine his worth in this rebuild.

1.) I wasn’t, but plenty of people around here were all in on the Watson thing. I suspect plenty of those same people will wish we had him if he plays well for the Browns.

2.) I have no way of knowing if Loomis was behind that decision or if DA and/or Ireland thought that letting Williams walk and bringing in Maye and Mathieu was the better decision. The Ceedy trade was DAs decision as far as we’ve all been lead to believe. He wasn’t willing to play the contract out and thought our offer was a lowball. If anything that’s on DA and the secondary coaches for not recognizing we had an in-house replacement at one of the safety spots and suggesting we pay him accordingly, rather than bring in one of the other players mentioned above.

3.) Actually agree with this but it’s with the benefit of hindsight. Everyone thought this team was better than their record last season. Most people thought the off-season was solid right up until the shipped CGJ off the week of the first game. With hindsight they definitely over estimated where expectations should be but as I’ve mentioned in other threads they could easily blame injuries for that, much like last year, if they wanted to.

4.) If you really believe this then it’s not Loomis that needs to go but DA for sure and possibly Ireland as well. If Loomis is just the cap guy and the HC and Ireland are the personnel guys then they’re the ones who made the personnel decisions and are responsible for who’s on the field.

5.) See above really, if it was all Sean and Ireland as far as recruitment goes then why is it suddenly Loomis job to bring in the QB of the future? Payton should’ve been done that, but chose to try to groom 4th rounders, kick the tires on FAs like Bridgewater and Winston, and experiment with Taysom Hill.

It’s been said for ages that Loomis is the cap guy and negotiator and Payton is in charge of personnel with Ireland having a large input in the draft room. I have no idea if that changed when DA was hired but if it didn’t then the personnel issues fall on Ireland and the previous and current HC.
