knowing ahead of time that a majority of SSF posters don't like, or downright hate, d. hall, i'm still doing this... i've tried to stay reasonable, meaning possible

in FA we sign trufant, samuel, or asomugha, whichever we can get
we sign OG faneca
we sign LB briggs

we trade our 1st to atlanta for deangelo hall and their 2nd, 4th, and 5th... this assigns a late (30 or so) 1st round value to hall
we trade our 2009 2nd to cincy for chad johnson
with atlanta's 2nd (#35) we take tavares gooden (SR 6'2"/235/4.5), OLB miami
with our 2nd (#42) we take frank okam (SR 6'4"/325), DT texas
with our 3rd (#74) we take shawn crable (SR 6'5"/243/4.6), OLB michigan
with atlanta's 4th (#99) we take ezra beaton (SR 6'2"/247/4.5), MLB nevada
with our 4th (#106) we take brad cottam (SR 6'8"/275/4.7), TE tennessee
with atlanta's 5th (#131) we take john sullivan (SR 6'4"/303), C notre dame
with our 5th (#138) we take darnell terrell (SR 6'2"/202/4.4), CB missouri
with our 6th (#170) we take david roach (SR 6'0"/212/4.5), S tcu
with our 7th (#202) we take barry richardson (SR 6'7"/330), OT clemson

some will go before i've projected, some after... my experience shows that draft day surprises tend to lean more toward players dropping... also, the combine might change some feelings

tho' I doubt your scenario plays out. The one thing that disturbs me about your prediction is

"with atlanta's 5th (#131) we take john sullivan (SR 6'4"/303), C notre dame"

I'm kinda gun-shy about ANYONE name John Sullivan.

I wouldn't give Atlanta a 1sr round pick for anybody on their team.. Unless we trade with dallas for their 2 1st and the trade the later one to Atlanta. I still think D.Hall can be had for a later round pick. Especially since we pick early in each round.

that might be true, but we'd be giving up the equivalent of a very late 1st rounder and (with the FA CB signing) have two probowl type corners for years to come... plus we get an early 2nd and two more picks... anyway, just my opinion on how to improve the team

Ummmm...I really don't understand all the "Falcons trade Hall to the Saints" talk. I realize that Hall wants out of Atlanta but it's pretty much an unwritten rule that you never help a division rival. Trading a starting a starting CB to your bitter rival because they don't a single starter in that position going into the season is pretty much "helping" your rival out. I know what someone will post...but Ti we traded Wayne Gandy to them. Yes Loomis traded a player they were going to release for a Safety the Falcons were going to cut. Like someone said about another trade - their garbage for our trash. There is no chance unless the Saints seriously overpay that the Falcons trade Hall to us...........

This strikes me as a pretty optimistic look at the offseason. Faneca, Briggs, AND either Trufant/Asomougha/Samuel in FA PLUS D.Hall?

That would be like Christmas.

And what happens to Mckenzie? He may be out for the first few games an everything, but it's not like he won't still be able to play.

mainly because then they can get dmac *and* a potential starting q'back... say you're the atlanta GM and you're faced with the potential to get both a starting RB and a starting QB this draft... would that be worth hall, a 2nd, 4th, and 5th to you?

i am still seriously considering him for FS if he comes back healthy... size, speed, coverage ability and a big hitter... plus he's not getting any younger

I said a while abck that I'd make a trade for Hall... but no way would I give away that 10th. Our future star LB awaits at 10... something we haven't seen since the Dome Patrol.

getting Briggs is a dream... some team will grossly overpay for him...

I doubt he would be moved to FS, and honestly at this point I would take him hands down over D.Hall. Probably not in 2 years, though...and it all depends how strong he can come back from the ACL.

It would be pretty sweet to have D. Hall as our nickel though :hihi:

I actually tend to think it's a lot more likely that we'll get Briggs than Samuel/Asomougha/Trufant.

I don't even want Samuel... I'd go into the season with David and Young as our starting CBs before I'd give Samuel 20+ million bonus and an 80 million contract.

Until we get consistent pressure on QBs we could bring Primetime (in his prime) and Champ Bailey in to play CB it won't matter because QBs will have time for their WRs to uncover.

Speaking of Champ... what are the odds of Denver trading Champ for a 2nd or 3rd? I think Champ's cap number jumps to like 9 million or something crazy like that... I wonder if it's worth at least a phone call...

Give'em a call mick!

Not to flame, but that's a highly unrealistic scenario.

Why would Atlanta trade their best player to their biggest rival?

Nnamdi Asomugha will NOT leave Oakland. They will either re-sign him or franchise him.

Trufant and Samuel most likely won't come here. IF (and it's a big "if") Trufant and Samuel leave their respective teams, there will be other teams out there that with more money that will be able to afford them. Briggs is unlikely; lots of teams will look to get him, starting with San Fran.

Highly unlikely that Crable lasts until the 3rd round.

1.) These mocks are useless because we can't see who's on the board for our pick. So you essentially get to hand pick who you want us to have which is unlikely to happen/

2.) If we trade for Hall it's a 1st or 2nd and nothing else. They would not give us their 2nd, 4th and 5th that's just not going to happen.

answered below, at least to my satisfaction :)

true, but not impossible... we see such things every year

so you're saying you wouldn't trade hall, your 2nd, 4th, and 5th for dmac and matt ryan, your projected starting RB and QB, if you were the atl GM? if i was looking to unload hall anyway, i would make that trade

Then make the trade to someone outside of the division; you do not want him playing you twice a year. You just don't do that; you don't give the competition an edge. Would you trade Brees to Atlanta for the #3 overall pick? Maybe you would, but Loomis wouldn't... and the Falcons will not trade D-Hall to us, bank on it.
