I have not seen anyone really talk about him on this board. I know after watching him play in the SEC the last few years he is a huge force when rushing the QB. I am sure as most of you have seen (Giants) pass rush can make anyone look better. Looking at a few mocks most have him going in the second to third range. If he is there for the saints in the second I would not be against him being drafted as a pass rush specialist and eventually grow into a every down player.

Of course all of this can still change because of the combine if he goes out and post insane numbers than forget about him slipping.

If we rean a 3-4 (which I wish we did) I'd love him in on our current roster. However, i'm against 1st rounders that don't start or aren't drafted to have a chance to start. I love tweeners, but you really don't get to see them unless you run the 3-4.

Yeah I wouldn't take him in the first either but some are him projecting to go in the 2nd or 3rd if he is there I think he would be a good fit.

Also, coming out of college Dwight Freeney was in the 6-1 250lbs range. (He got up to 266 lbs for the combine) and plays DE for a 4-3 D.

I am not saying that Groves is the next Freeney but don't just right him off as a tweener the guy is 6-3 and can add some weight.

hopefully because he was injured basically all of this year he will drop

id take him in the third because he is a definate potential impact player which is rare to find in the third

That is true and if I am not mistaken it was a toe injury. If he is still having lingering problems it could hurt his forty which is his biggest plus for him which in turn would make him drop.

I was waiting for someone to bring him up. He will be a mid to late 1st rounder and worthy of trading down to pick up if the right trade package is presented. I don't think he makes it out of the 1st round so if Ellis is gone, we don't want a linebacker at 10 then trade down for Highsmith or Groves. This would be a pretty good move if we get another 2nd and another 4th/5th depending on how far down we move.

I agree you have to draft a 1st rounder that has a chance to start or should start unless they are a QB.

I like Groves but he is a pas rush specialist that had 3 sacks last year which i a question mark?

He dislocated 3 toes in the Florida game and had to split time when he finally returned. He is a great pass rusher, who plays with an extremely high motor. So much so, that he forgets his assignments at times. He is a great player, but the wrong guy for us, we need Pat Sims.

As mentioned previously, he had a toe injury most of the season, which prevented him to use his best asset: his speed. I wouldn't pick him in the 1st round, but if he's there in the 2nd and the available LBs will probably be there in the 3rd, I'd take him. Most good defenses have a 3rd down DE that does nothing but rush the passer and they're usually fast and always fresh since they only play 1 down at a time. While it seems like very little impact, we had way too many 3rd-and-longs with zero pressure. We need a speed rusher off the bench.

Groves would be a beast in Baltimore if the Ravens lose Suggs...
